how do u test a oil pump on a 2001 srx

hey guys,
im just wondering how do you test a oil pump on a 2001 srx 700
any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

are you thinking your pump is bad? if so Yamaha's oil pumps go to wide open when they go south so you will be using a lot more oil when you're running it. not sure how you would be able to check it otherwise. i've had a couple go on 2 differrent sleds over the years and that is how i found out. someone on here might be able to answer your question.

When they go wide open, would they spill oil around the engine and cause a oil build up in the air box?
