How do i keep snow out of my air box on my 94 vmax 600? Just got 8 inches of fresh snow i go for a ride and in 5 min full of snow and stuck. I have added extra foam to the air intake in the hood and the air box. Ride for 5 min again looses power. Cleaned the carbs 4 times with no avail still runs bad wont rev past 6. I checked my compression and both cylinders are down to 90 psi I think I may have scored a piston now what a poor design. This is my first sled since the late 80s and i am not impressed.

are you getting alot of snow up on hood/dash?

sounds like it is sucking snow under the hood somewhere. I have had 3 of these sleds and never had a problem with snow getting in the airbox. Are you sure the airbox doesn't have a hole in it that is allowing powder in from under the hood?

I have to 96's in the front yard right now that always sit in the snow and no problems with either
put an outerwears powder pre filter over the air box. stops the snow from coming in the intake but still lets the air through.
it is very common for these to suck snow down the airbox. The only thing to prevent this will be the the prefilter. But with only 90 pounds of compression, your going to need a rebuild either way
compression might come back as it might have the cylinder walls washed clean atm. as long as the pistons are not scuffed and burn pattern looks good it should be ok.
