Hey guys,
I'm new here and I hate to start a new thread about oil pumps, but my issue is different and i need help. My 2000 sxr 700 is using approx 3.5 qts of oil for about 5 gallons of oil. My problem is that the previous owner put 7 inch risers and extended cables on it. From what i can tell the oil cable is an RSI one and has the center adjustor, but the factory specs won't work with this cable. Right now i have no gap at all and the oil lever almost maxes out before the throttle does! What i was thinking about doing was cutting some of the outside cable shield to add more gap. But my question is are there any marks on the pump to line up the lever at WOT and idle? Also how far does the throttle open before the oil lever does? I hope this makes sense.
Thanks in advance!
Andrew

oil pump has no play as soon as the throttle is touched the pump must move. there are lines on the pump arm and the body that get lined up at wot

oh ok i see, i ask about my spi cable but never got an answer. maybe i need a new member ID. I ask for manual on a thread everyone is getting manual but still nothing.

there are two methods that get the same results, measure cable gap and line up lines. the type of cable has no bearing on this if its adjustable and right for application. i personaly think the pump lines are the way to go.

Thanks Chevyman for the replies. I think im going to "modify" my cable so that my oil pump arm actual rests against the idle stop. Then adjust it so my lines meet at WOT. I hope that works.

only worrie about wot setting, not idle, throttle throw (pull/release) dictates idle rest. you want no slack! you can only adjust wot not both ends( idle, wot).
