whats wrong with these yami's already

ran the 600 outside for about 20 minutes, all exchangers are warm and I leave to go riding..checking once in a while. All is good and no temp light coming on in the 25 mile ride I did.And I opened her up good in some places and light stayed off.I wander if it was possible I had a air lock in there from beginning of season after my rebuild.I know my exchangers were warmed up after the rebuild when I bleed system.Coolant bottle dropped a few inches after the ride today. Can't see any leaks anywhere..had new plugs put in this am and they are starting to get that nice tan color on electrode..no evidence of coolant..piston wash still good and compression still 140 PSI all across.Maybe I got rid of a huge bubble in the system and finally it sucked back coolant to replace the air pocket.I will monitor the bottle after the next ride or 2 and see if coolant remains constant..

ok daman...I hope that it isn't leaking anywhere..don't see a thing and no coolant on garage floor or when running it on idle 20 miutes..cross my yamaha fingers..lol

Blue <It definately sounds like a head gasket issue, I would replace it with new , I had similar problem, racked my brain for weeks ...replaced gasket, all was well!

well I am going out to try it again soon.Should be fine I thinks.I don't have anything here but a single layer gasket. The other single layer is on the sled and used hi-tack on it to.Ran about 7000 km's on a sigle layer before the rebuild...have no sign of coolant in engine yet..will check what the coolant bottle does today...yesturday kight never came on and exchangers had heat in them.

I have a headgasket that hasn't been separated yet as well Doug lemme know f u want mento bring it, Unless the 700 is different which it probably is

well rode the 600..clutching dead on.ratcheting stopped.Pinned up up the floodway in 2 to 3 feet of snow on an angle to the top.She is reving right out and pulling me thru the stuff and no ratcheting anymore.what a difference.Seemed like the track loosened up some since start of season/Tightened adjusters 1.25 turns in..still have 1.25 sag with 22 foots of weight pulling down.Scott..don't think that gasket will fit..but bring it anyways.... :o| lost around 1" more of coolant in the bottler..it is going somewhere.Plugs are tan on tip and whitish/greyish in center electrode...this sure don't make sense all of a sudden.

part numbers are the same between a 600sxr and a 700sxr...8DG-11181-00-00.Don't know how since the 700 is a biggercylinder and such...bring it Scott

Ok Doug will do, that will be 8.99 lol JK

the heads are same size outside and cylinders also.It is the inside that is larger.I won't do the single layer gasket mod then..otherwise I could try re-seal the one I have on there or ther spare ones..

hope the SRX runs now..took TPS out, since I don't have the new one..put the old one back in and just adjusted it to full counter clockwise position..not sure about the adjusting on them anyways...

I would say you would have more of a tendency to over rev on a cold day since colder air is denser resulting in a leaner charge, creating more power/RPM. Also, I'd think on a warmer day the wetter snow would create more drag on the sled pulling RPM down.

got the head off the 600..yep coolant was getting thru..sticky like molasses inside the domes...got everything out abnd cleaned.Waiting for the head gaskets from BM2..but since we have a heavy snowfall now and big winds coming..a blizzard will exist into the night and tomorrow and temps will drop like a rock back to -30 windchills from like -8 windchill now.Oh well.guess no riding then this weekend based on weather..computer it will be then.... :o|

My SRX's TPS ended up not quite in the full counter clockwise position and if I rotated it right to the stop counter clockwise it was too low on adjustment voltage and would flash the code.
I would suggest you adjust it as per the manual but if you need to get it going without adjusting it[not recommended], rotate it full counterclockwise and if it flashes the code bring it back clockwise ever so slightly just enough to stop the code flash. Thats where mine ended up using the proper adjustment procedure.

SXR600 running today..seems like the coolant is not dropping now in the bottle..that is good. But crappy riding day..way to warm..rpm's are down a lot, almost 34 F here now.The nice powder snow we got last weekend is crap now after the cold cold temps and wind.Bumpy everywhere..almost got swallowed up against a 6 foot drift that wedged me against the other side.Had to hit the deeper snow and grass to get out of there..I couldn't even see it next to me..it is cloudy out and cannot visually see what is coming up on me.Took the ditch back and almost got thrown over the handle bars 3 times..hit drifts ahead of me that I can't visualize..that was it.went home and parked it.Gonna be a bad weekend for riding with the warmer temps.I am even wandering why I go out riding anymore..it sucks and not fun..pain in the butt if you ask me..I can see why others want to give up this sport...
