What crap me or my parents wold never recommend state farm to anyone!

I didn't get my licence until I could buy my own insurance whilst living with mom. A week before my 18th B-day.
Not like it mattered since I never had my licence for more than a month or two for the next 5 years anyhow. Just posessing one made me... do things.
Learning how to drive without getting pulled over actually teaches one good road manners.
Don't drive drunk, let someone else who can. ;>) - just kidding!
I've been with State Farm nearly 30 years... yeah, yeah I know - Im lazy.
I haven't had my sled long enough to consider insurance yet (still working on getting it running) but when it comes to car insurance State Farm SUCKS!!!! My wife was rear ended almost 6 years ago and we are still fighting; the guy who hit her also has SF; and I had to get a lawyer to sue them, and even at taht we got SHAFTED!!!! especially since all my wife was doing was sitting in traffic waiting for a red light to go green. You know what they say about vehicles being replaceable; I still have that very same Jeep and it was fixed fine but my wife still has problems from then, that they refuse to take care of; you would not believe the BS excuses they sling out as to why they "are not liable" Boy they are sure quick to collect that monthly premium, and tell you that you get paid for all this stuff "If" something happens; but WHEN it does you have no idea all the loopholes they have NOT to own up to their end..... I am not gonna write a book here but I never dreamed that they could pull some of the BS that they have; I can't wait for the dust to settle so I can leave SF!

I'm a lawyer, but I'm one of the good guys (criminal prosecutor). Yes you can sue wives, siblings, house mates. It happens all the time.nosboy said:I don't know... I think FAMILY MEMBERS mean ANYONE living in the household?????
You want "her" (the policy covering the sled she was driving) collsion policy (that carries no deductable) to cover your loss from her hitting you/ rear ending you (btw -- isn't that u'r job to her??? ;-)).
Now your insurance company obviously prefers for you and your wife to have your comprehensive policies pay for this one, because a deductable applies when paying out with comprehensive policies.
But I agree with your logic that a collision policy should in theory apply here -- to fix your sled, and no deductable should have to be paid. She'll have to pay the comprehensive deductable to fix the sled she was driving.
So are they trying to collect 2 deductables from you guys? I think that's what I read..... That's wrong I believe. Go hire a civil attorney and tell state farm to get ready for the lawsuit.....

had the same thing happen to me, wife now but girlfriend then, runs into back of me totals her sled because of the year and what it was worth, $2400 - deductible of $500 - get a check for $1900, buy it back from the low ball offer from dealer for $300 and then sold it for $1500 as is and the guy who bought it put some new parts front end for about $300...i feel the sled was worth about $2500 i walk away with 1600+1500= $3100 and buy another sled for $2500, fix my sled ie straighten aluminum new bumper snowflap and pocket about $800 on the damage to my sled and life goes on....
moral do not ever tell your significant wow your driving awesome these bumps just melt away with the m10 don't they...5 minutes later...
all i cared about was that she was ok, screw the sled, she broke a nail
and now we have a good laugh over it, remember that time when i forgot to take the purse off my handlebars

well my insurance company informed me this year that they came out with a new thing for snowmobiles. I was like ohh??...an they started to tell me that if i have anything under the hood of the sled to make it go faster than stock, then my insurance goes way up an i have to pay a lot more than what i am now. I couldnt believe it..never had that problem before..not sure if anyone else heard of this or not but i know i never did..BS if ya ask me..

in the insurance world, once your married you're both named insureds on the policy, regardless of names or who owned what prior to marriage.
in the case of the two room mates this would/should not apply.
it's the same with auto insurance. you can't exclude a spouse, nor can you sue your spouse in most policies. you can ask to put in a collision claim (not a liability/property damage claim) but in that case the deductible applies and most likely your rates will go up.
it stinks, but it's important to read the small print. the wife ran into the back of our sons sled (fortunately just damaging the break light) and that would not have been covered either.
