if you don't mind, what did the pump run you? Were you able to install it yourself?
I paid $40 for one off of eBay, plus shipping. It looked in real good shape and was one of the more expensive ones listed. New they were over $150 from Yamaha Sports Plaza, so I chose to try a used one.02ViperMtn said:if you don't mind, what did the pump run you? Were you able to install it yourself?
It was an absolute bear to switch out the pump. Remove the airbox, then remove the carbs. Next you need to remove the motor mount (right rear). Once motor mount is completely out, you can get to the 2 allen head screws holding the oil pump to the motor. These screws are hard to get at and loosen. I ended up purchasing ball end allen sockets. They allow you to go into the screw at an angle.
Then just reverse those steps to put it all back together. Then bleed the oil pump to get it prined with oil.

awesome, i had to do work on my pump and took it in for a $500 bill. I could seem to find my way to get at the pump without shifting the motor. Good job

it is tough to get at but i ended up doing the same thing as above and used the ball end allen wrench. i also unbolted the motor so i could lift it up to gain some access.
