i have a 94 vmax that i want to put a set of 96 twin gyt pipes. the question would be if i have a set of 97 vmax carbs on my 94 motor do i have to put a set of Q8 jets? like it only ask to put them on the 94 carbs.

When I put my gyt twins on last year i kept the 153.8 mains, dropped the needles one clip and didn't change to the Q8 needles. I have not put a ton of miles on it but my plugs look good as does my wash, both are a little on the rich side. Im around 1800ft above sea level. I feel my jetting is good till about -15 to -18, ran it in that yesterday on the river and it absolutely ripped. It does move your powerband up 1200 or so rpm though, and it LOVES its fuel now even moreso than before if you can imagine that. If you do a search there is a ton of info about this subject. I know my setup is not perfect but it works good enough for me.

thanks alot guys. am at 400ft but i think that will give me a good starting point. let the Q8 are back order. no worry poiboy122 i have egt that a be keeping a eye on. hey joel how do you like the power and sounds out of this pipes?

Mine sounded awesome and ran like a raped ape,but I had to stay on it all the time or else it would load up.I never hit the set-up quite right but managed to burn a piston trying. If only I had known about this forum....Good luck,Al

Yeah as pinboy said it sounds awesome! It is harder to keep "on the pipe" though, but runs HARD!!!!. I would only put the stocker back on if my wife was going to ride it. Besides, around here a piped Vmax is not too common so its neat to have something different.
