Well, for those of you who havent seen it, here is the airbox I designed for the yamaha triples. I finally spent some time tuning it all in a couple days ago and wanted to report what I had so far. When I was running a gutted airbox with my current setup, I was running 152.5 pto, 150, 150 mains in the sled and it was a little fat on the jetting on an average 20 degree day. With this new airbox, I am now running staggered jetting of 160, 157.5, 160 with fairly good looking plug readings. The mag cylinder is the leanest of them all but is still on the safe end of the spectrum. The PTO actually looks much richer in this picture than in reality but it could probably go down one jet size. Before you all mention it, I am running an iridium plug in the center for no particular reason at all. The sled is now able to walk/jog by our psi piped Vmax-4 running the exact same track.

As for back to back performance comparisons, I have not run the stock airbox against it but the increase in jetting informs me that there is a fairly substantial gain in HP. The combination of the pipes with this airbox also sounds incredible. Just wanted to give you guys an update on the performance of this airbox.

I see there is a huge increase of the jet sizes. Does this mean that the MPG goes down the drain? Is this a racing application only?

The MPG is going to go down with this application, as it would with any application where you are making more HP. This can be used for either a trail or racing application. My sled is a trail sled that is setup for lake racing but has never been in any sanctioned races.

How do you think this would work on an srx that runs in a lot of powder? whit mountains and hills everywere..

That is difficult for me to say because I have not run it in those applications. I can do a search and see if there are any prefilters that will fit with this application. I would imagine that the filter alone would be alright because the air comes in from the sides instead of the top like the stock airbox.

My sled is completely stock. How much is this going to help it? Do you have jetting recommendations as far as how many sizes to go up on main jets, needle position and pilots?

I do not have any HP #'s to give you and I am not going to claim numbers like many other go-fast parts do. As far as jetting, I would recommend starting around 155's across the board for the mains and doing some testing to determine where to go from there. That SHOULD be plenty rich to get some good plug readings and to do some final tuning for your elevation and temperatures. I am currently running the stock pilots and needles but I feel that the needle should be pulled up a clip to get some more fuel in there. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the comments guys...Hopefully I can get a little more testing done on this airbox possibly on a stock sled so I have a better understand of where the jetting is with it and speed improvements compared to the stock airbox. There is a stock 2001 SRX that I might be able to install this on over superbowl weekend for performance gains. Would there be any interest in the kit or would I be wasting my time on the stock sled?

I am interested if there is a gain strong enough to justify the cost.
I looked on your website last night for the first time and it shows polished aluminum trailing arms for an SRX what do they cost for a pair? do you do the radious rods also? how much for them?

The polished aluminum arms are $550/pair and come heat treated. These arms are extremely strong and are 6.6 pounds lighter than stock. We sell en entire front suspension kit for the sleds from the ski all the way to the sway bar kit. Here is a picture of the front suspension. I will see if I have time this weekend to do some testing with the air box.
