well i got a no regi an a no insurane ticket an the cop told me the regi said the sled was red but its blue an i have silver tunnel an trailin arms with the dual bulb light im mad an scared i got screwed the coils mount to th emotor anyone know what the 2000 an 2001s vins start with im in shock

Pics help too

That code could be anything. When is it blinking? As soon as you start it and then it goes away or after it starts continuous or after it is running for a while?

goes away after start up no it sthe red head im jus confused on what year for sure silver trailin arms dual head light but on computer it comes up as it being red regi says 2000 i will take some pics but ive never posted any an i doubt ill figure it out tropper said if it was stolen he couldnt do anythign bout it becuase its over 4 or 5 years old an not in th esystem

I had no idea that the SXR red heads even had a diagnostic code system. I have never seen this on either of our Red Head's Let alone a dual headlight SXR???? Al

My 2002 SXR 600 red head has a dual headlight bulb and the warning light flashes 3 times at start up. Here is a photo to compare to yours.

I believe 2002 was the first year for the dual bulbs.

It's normal for the temp lamp to flash 3 times on start up. The 3 flashes signal to you the self diagnostics have passed and your good to go. Take the leading numbers on your VIN number from the tunnel. If I remember my 01' SXR-700 starts with 8CH, that tells me it's an 01' what does your tunnel VIN say (we don't need the entire vin. Also, lots of parts under the hood should start with 8CH if it's an 01'). 2001 was the first year with the good HO stator the headlamp is much different from the 00' which had a crappy headlamp. No SXR's were ever red. The 97' SX-700 and VMAX series were red back in the day. They also had redtop motors. If some scumbag franken sledded something for you then you can take the sled back and get your money back. If he says no, tell him your lawyer will be in contact with him shortly. Be nice and leave.

Hmmm. Check your build date. Sounds like you have an '01 SXR. That was the only year with a silver tunnel. It also had the red motor., and dual bulbs. The plastic belly, and bumpers should be blue. Seat should be black, with blue bolsters on the sides. Temp light blinking 3 times upon start up was introduced in 01. My '01 SXR700 has it, and the dual bulbs. My "01 SXR500 has a single bulb, and no self diagnostics.
You may have yourself an '01, which did have a red hood on it at one time, and then was changed back to original???? or possibly you have a very late '00 model. '02 would have been a SXV Viper, which is a redhead, single pipe with power valves.

I think you have a 2001 year sled that was built in 2000,,, And he was just confused......

regi says 2000 sxr 700 red its w/e its aprt of me now wether it feels like i adopted her or not lol an i dont stop for the law anyhow around these parts they do nuthing but harrass us

'02 viper, would have beena sxv viper, which is a redhead, single pipe with power valves. Can any one clarify? Didnt think any vipers had readhead 700s?

the 8CH prefix started in 97 and was used until 2001, on the non powervalved 700 SX triples. it would be up to the rest of the vin number sequence to ascertain the exact year.

97: 8CH-000548
98: 8CH-015061
99: 8CH-016110
2000: 8CH-018714
2001: 8CH-026897

the above listed would be starting numbers per vin per year. your actual vin will resemble the starting sequence according to year.

no vipers used the 8CH.
