we enjoy the cel on our sierra. maf is failing. the dash pops and clicks like something electrical is arcing in there. the 4wd sometimes decides to get stuck in 2wd and refuses to shift to 4wd. half the dash lights dont work. cd player hardly ever ejects discs. already gone through 2 ujoints. rear brake dust shields have rotted off. tailgate hinge rotted off. door bumper gaurds (chrome strips on the door) have had pock marks from rust coming through since about 1 year old. lots of peeling paint and rust on the underside. all around about 1/2 the truck quality wise that our 95 was. oh, and the exhaust mani shield rotted off lol! like I said, get the extended warranty!!

we bought it new in 05. 1500 slt. comfortable, good fuel mileage and way more power than the old 95 we had. just that all the build quality is less, while the general design and features are better. for instance you cant lift the wipers off the windshield anymore (not sure about the new ones) and for a truck with a plow package thats just useless. old one did. oh, and the spring in the drivers seat is now broke. squeaks and pokes you as you drive. has just over 80k on it, but the issues we are having are more than we ever had even when we had 130k on the other truck. used in the same conditions, by the same people, doing actually less work. the old one used to haul our 4 place sled trailer 4 hours north quite often, the new one hauls a 2 place maybe 2 times a year. have a place up north, no need to haul anymore neighbor has an 08 and its startign to show similar signs with the paint quality and rust. just a shame, they gained in places and certainly lost in others!

oh,and its the 5.3. sure does push the snow well and gets decent mileage though. and we got about 70k out of the stock tires. the bridgestone dueller at are great tires. they dont look it but they grip in the snow and ice VERY well!

Those pictures of your truck sure prove there is no such thing as "The good old Days" when it comes to vehicle safety design! Every cent you ever spent on that truck just paid back in spades by looking after you in that accident!
IMO..you did win the lottery...Life!!!
Glad you're OK

that's why I won't buy a new truck of any brand... 2-1/2 years I bought a new-to-me-'83 Dodge 3/4 ton, and love it; it is so much more a truck than the 97 it replaced, that it aint even funny; and sorry I'm not into Toyotas Nissans Honduhs Kias etc if I can't find a Dodge I like I'll look into a Ford or Chevy
Long live the Carburetor! (based on the K.I.S.S principle, lol)

damn thats a nice looking truck. I really hope you have good luck with it, for your sake and because I hope that GM is making better stuff. I was "raised" on gm trucks, so it sucks to be so unhappy with them. and the new ones look SOOO nice, I wanted one as soon as they did the redesign how did you do for a deal?
