better suspension

Just got back from Mich. and am tired of getting beat to death. Can I install an xtra 10 or 12 into my 95 vmax without to many issues or are there better skids to use. Rather not fork out for an m10.
 
Search around on here, I just dropped in an xtra 10 into my '95. VERY easy to do. Minimal work, and a world of difference. I wish I had done it much sooner in fact.

Best $60 I EVER spent for snowmobile parts!

I agree, an extra 10 would be a lot better, not sit overly high in the back, and can be had for cheap!
 
Thanks for the response. Is there a template to use or find a sled and measure for hole placement?
 
personally prefer sc-series over extra. but yamaha's proactive and monoshock are both better than any of them
 
put a artic cat wildcat skid in my buddys had 2 drill 2 new front holes he paid 50$ for it and loves it
 
I put a wildcat skid into my 95 vmax too, its amazing how much better the ride and weight transfer is. It'll catwalk now!!!
 
I am also looking to upgrade my viper skid. Anyone here try or no anyone who has used the nytro skid or do you think its not worth it. Just lookin for some input. Also what do you think of the nytro suspension?
 
I have the nytro suspension in my 800. It flat out rocks!
I have tried almost all the skids out there, extra 10, 12, sc10, sc3, sc4, zr, fcat skid, proaction, proactive(nytro skid aka dualshock), mono, m10.
And honestly for all around riding, easiness to tune, and durability, the nytro skid is one of my favorites.
It handles the bumps extremely well, transfer is excellent, incredibly simple to adjust transfer and stiffness. And although it is of similar design to the other manufacturers suspensions, it is built much stronger, though with no difference in weight. It took maybe 20 minutes after installing mine to get it tuned the way i like it, and my "big heavy" vmax4 feels so light its almost like im never touching the ground.
They are usually about $700 used, but if you look hard enough, I found mine for $150.
Nytro skid is amazing.
 
Thanks zr2. Now I'm totally siked. You just made up my mind . I have always had yamaha's and well I don't exactly want to put another brands suspension in my machine. Let's face it yamaha has always built a very durable and quality machine but they have also always been way behind everyone else when it comes to their suspension. Thanks so much for the input on the nytro suspension . I'm Def putting that in my viper for next year. How hard was the install ?
 
Just getting back into it and picked up a 95 Vmax 600 for what I thought was a dam good deal. I just joined the sight and was looking for this very same info and didnt have too look to far to find it. Finding a used Xtra 10 seems to make the most sense to me seeing as I dont have that much into the sled.

So, is there any or much modifying to adding the Xtra 10?

Also, is there any seat manuf that make a taller seat for the 95 Vmax? Im a big dude and not as young as I used to be so I wouldnt mind a little higher seat so my knees aint in my chest!

Please be patient with me because its been a long time since Ive been into sleds. When you talk about the "Nytro" skid are you saying that you got the suspension out of a newer Nytro sled and put it in your older Vmax? If so I assume youd need the track? Also, is there anything else?
