aftermarket skid by fast. commonly thought of as the skid to have for trail riding.

I abso-freaking-lutley LOVE my 2008 NYTRO RTX in my SX700... it rides like a dream... so much fun to ditch bang with.... nothing like taking 6"-12" deep stutter bumps at 50mph!!
it wasnt a hard install with stock measurments from a 08 RTX...
measure, measure agian, and measure one more time, then drill.
my skid mounted so cleanly in its amazing!
SORRY ABOUT THE PICTURES THAT WILL TAKE UP MOST OF THIS PAGE>> TRYING TO RESIZE BARE WITH ME!

i put a 2009 nytro rtx skid in my 03 rx1 and i am very happy now it sucks the bumps up.
yes i took the suspension out of a newer nytro and put it into my 96 vmax4. any 121 tracks will work, I run 1.25 track with studs no problem.
and sx slayer isnt exaggerating at all. 6-12" stutters can be taken at 50 all day long with this skid

Wow, that Sounds like such a huge improvement! If you don't mind me asking, what's all involved in the swap? Is it just a bolt in and go or is there some Fab work to be done?

Is that an aftermarket seat or some kind of riser? If so what brand?

wow how is that sled to steer, getting the back end jacked up that high should cause ALOT of ski pressure, doesnt it?

its a stock seat taken to an upholstry shop. they added 4inches of foam and extended my cover.... same demsions as a BOSS seat... for only $100....

EDIT: Muddy: it was an easy mount, a member on here gave me the measurements of a 08 Nytro RTX. if i remember right, the distance from the drive shaft, then the distance down from the center of the drive shaft gives you first hole. Then you take that hole and measure the distance to second suspsenions hole. that is your horizontal distance. to get vertical distance down from tunnel, i was given a the tunnel depth from the donor sled. sorry if i didnt word that very well, hard to explain.
Drop brackets had to be made, as well as some fabrication work. but nothing that needed any fancy equipment. grinder, acetelyne torch and rivet gun is really all you need.
EDIT 2: the sled isnt as hard to steer as you think. i have Race C&A skis, which doesnt help matters. but overall its harder to steer than stock, but not impossible to control on the trails....

Thanks for the replies very helpful.
I just happened to find a suspension from a Polaris Edge. Is that something desireable?
Also I assume the M-10 is on curtain sleds but if I'm looking for parted out sleds locally which ones are they?
Thanks
jim

OK, I just looked at your link and think I answered my own question. Lol
On the Vmax4 I was able to use the front hole from the factory skid, and simply redrill holes for the rear mounts. I did not put drop brackets on mine, as sx_slayer did, so it sits very nicely, almost like it was supposed to be in there from the factory. Steering was not negatively affected, still easy to steer. But this skid has so much transfer the skis are rarely touching the ground. In all reality I should probably adjust the transfer down, but it is just way to much fun.
