i am wondering how you tighten the water pump belt on a 01 sxr 500. the belt is loose and needs tightening...how??
You have to pull the recoil off and the pulley on the crank for the water pump then you split the pulley and remove shims to make the pulleycloser together and that makes the belt ride higher on the sheave. Best is to install a new belt and that will take care of the looseness I think a new belt cost about $13 to $15 US dollars.

same theory as your secondary clutch, just making the belt sit higher in the pulley.
