I haven't pulled the primary off yet, but I pulled the secondary off to replace an axle bearing and speedo key. While I had the clutch off, I figured I would clean it up alittle (just blow it off and clean the outside without disassembling it).

Once I cleaned it up, I realized the helix is a Hauck W which I think is a 56/50 helix. It has a green spring in it. Anybody know what this could all mean as far as how my sled is clutched? I don't know anything about the primary except it has a black spring in it. As I said, I haven't pulled it off yet.

My sled doesn't seem to pull terribly hard, but i'm comparing to my brothers viper.

My Primary engages at like 4600 rpms. Also Wondering if that is too high or indicative of a problem. Thanks in advance.

I think stock engagement is around 4000. Maybe someone put a different spring in at some time.

Thanks SXR70001. I thought stock engagement was closer to 4000. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention and it really engages lower. I'll have to look. I'll just run the clutches the way they are the rest of the year and maybe pull the primary in the spring. It should probably be cleaned annually anyhow. I lined up against an 01 Edge X 600 that was clutched and studded. I was able to stay about 3 sled lengths ahead of him, I'd just like a little more pull in the mid range for trail riding and I don't really care about top end since I don't race much at all. I go pretty easy on the sled most of the time.
