It's been awhile since we bought our poos and I do miss my SRX everytime I hit the gas!!! anyhow I have a couple friends machines I am working on and need some help.

1st
sxr 600 triple. Sat for a year or so. Cleaned fuel tank, carbs 3x's, has new fuel filter, lines and pump is now been cleaned out. At idle gas pours out of the #3 carb tubes. Floats were checked and seemed ok when carbs were cleaned. Anything else that can cause this, bad pump...friend did have it apart??? Other than that it runs well.

2nd sled
vmax 700 triple 2001
Blew up #1 cylinder, was just in a couple months ago at local dealer for the tune of $400 to have the carbs cleaned and synched. So why did it blow? machine ran fine then came up to a stop and started to run poor, #1 dead. I will be rebuilding this thing soon and I am thinking that I should do crank seals as well. Machine has 12,000 miles. Also pistons, SPI or OEM, yes the machine has 12,000 miles and the cheaper the better. Anyone with specs on head and crankcase bolts would help a lot. Also other than clutch puller will I need any special tools...looks like PTO crank side seal has a bearing on the outside of it.

#1- needle & seat not sealing, dirty or bad.
#2- oem pistons, used ones will save some $, Yes, crank seals & also clean/check bearings to make sure piston/ring fragments are cleaned out. Clutch alignment tools would be handy when installing motor.

Got a clutch align tool and puller just wondering about the PTO seal as there are bearings on both sides of it in the Yamaha fiche pics. Does the outer just pull off? Be nice if it does!!!! If this thing has metal in the crank case I don't think it'd be too wise for me to put it together. After seeing my Poo 700 blow crank bearings and a friends Cat blow his it just gets too expensive. Remember this thing has 12,000 miles!!!!!!!! Personally if it where mine I'd look for a nice used sled and keep this one for parts.

Find machine shop that specializes in these things and have them pull the bearing and change the seal. That's what I did and it was like $15, I think. But you can use a puller on it. I reused the gaskets, they are metal, I just repainted them with that copper gasket spray and reinstalled them. Unless you damaged them taking the motor apart they should be fine. Clean & inspect them good.
