My brother in law owns my dad's old '98 XTC 700 triple (121" powder special) model that is totally stock but in mint shape with around 3500 miles on it. He has been asking me about putting triples on it.......which ones to buy. I told him as far as I know all of them were good on that engine and reliable. Just looking to see what everyone on here thinks would be the best for trail riding. Not too loud but very trail friendly and the easiest to find good setup info.

thanks.........

From the man himself (TURK) part way down the page

Thanks......that's answers alot for me. I rode in the UP with a guy one year that had a 99 SX700 that had the open class snocross setup from Hauck that had the CPR pipes along with a 760 BB, short track, 1.5" Challenger track and 4 Ohlins shocks. Man did that thing rip. You could be in 2 ft. of powder, put your feet back on the running boards standing up.....nail it and the front end would just be dancing in the air all day long. What a riot!!

on my stepsons(Bluemonster2) 98 xtc here he put in SLP triple pipes.Fit good and sure woke up his 700...with the recommended clutching and jetting of course.Really snappy and sound awesome..I love the sound of it idling..real nice.

Somewhere out in my storage shed I have a box with old snowmobile magazines. I kept all the old American Snowmobiler shootout issues. They always do those mod sled reports in the back. I remember seeing them doing alot of pipe mods on this engine. They did one SLP, one Bender, one PSI and one Power, Inc. center dump over the years. I remember the SLP's got a good review and good 1000' numbers.

i got a set of slp's on my sx, my buds got a set of psi's on an sxr, both with identical setups.......he smokes me!

What year is that SXR? Is a 2001? I still am a firm believer the 2001 was the strongest redhead with that better ignition it had........the rare earth 300W magneto. Yamaha claimed not but in my experience my 2001 stocker would smoke the previous redhead 700's that were stock.

I have had Benders tripples on our two 99 SXs since they were new. Absolutely no quality issues, easy to clutch, and make great power...these two sleds were dominant in snow drags in my area and have seen over 10,000 miles on the trails as well.

Its a 2000, but we put a short cover primary on it with 8ca's and 15mm rollers with a psi green spring and a 52/42 helix. It diffinatly took awhile to dial in with the psi's ,but once we did ,it rocked!
