I'm extending my sled to a 136 in the off season, and i have a question about the rail extensions themselves. now i can get the slp extensions that look very nice, but they do not extend the rails to accomodate a longer hyfax. is there a big advantage to extending the hyfax all the way to the wheels when doing this? I know tracksusa.com and hartman inc extends them all the way for longer hyfax. and obviously a true 136 would have solid rails all the way back. lemme know your thoughts please,
thanks!

The 136 Hartmans I have here do not extend the hyfax. Don't know if they make different versions but check first

This is the first sled I have that is long track. Just got it so I am not sure how they will last. I think speed would be better with the 121 hyfax because of less resistance of the longer hyfax. Time will tell.

I have tracks usa extensions 136" extensions and they have held up very well.I've beat the snot out of those things for like 8000 miles and durability is not an issue I assure you!In fact you'll bend your stock rails before you have any trouble with those, saw it happen on a viper years back.If ya go that route just be patient and clearance the extension a little and make sure it fits tight into the rails and check the bolts once in a while to make sure there tight.

Either style works the same in durability. Its just a looks thing. The new hartman rail ext. come with the hyfax extension piece now that gets bolted unto the rail ext.I've yet to have/see either style fail.Plus side of the non ext. hyfax is price and you can find 121" hyfax alot easier and cheaper. All comes done to what you want and like.

Is there any 'wear' issues on the extensions that don't have the HYFAX go all the way back. 'Wear' either on the track or the extension.
You know that argument.....steel track clips and aluminum extension....usually the aluminum loses the fight. Or does the rear wheels keep the wearing out of the extension in check.

When i had my hartman extensions, like in the pic. I drilled a hole right where the axle used to be, the extension sits in the oval shaped slot, & added another set of wheels inside the rails. Just like the ones further up in the skid.

I had the WPS 144 extensions on my SXR. Thay were great and with the off set of no hyfax it still handled like the 121 on the trail. You can also run big wheels on the stock axel.
