Hi there, I was hoping to get a little advise.
I have been doing a lot of searching and I think this setup will work for me and my 96 xt 600.
8ab-00,2.4g ea.hole,gpg primary,50/44 helix,green sec. 60* twist,hope I got that all correct.
I've got almost 7k on the sled now and have never done anything with the clutches except blow out with compressed air and install 14.5mm roller's.
I'm thinking it is time to go through them and replace worn part's and possibly hop them up up a bit cause my buddy's 12 yr old kid smoked me out on the lake with his 93 440 xcr poo. and I can't live with that!
Seem's like sled is not upshifting when out on the lake rpm's climb up to 8700rpm's and does'nt go much faster than 60 mph,and I am staying in other sled's track's.
When I'm on hardpack trail's pin the throttle rpm's climb to 8700 rpm's until I slowly hit 75mph then they drop to 8000 rpm's then it pull's pretty hard to about 90-95mph.
My main question is will this clutch setup work with my machine with the top gear dropped 1 tooth, head gasket mod.14.5mm roller's and my weight 210lbs. Sorry if i'm a little long winded this clutching stuff is new to me,any help much appreciated.

Does'nt anyone work on these old 96's anymore?
Would I be better off just keeping the clutch's stock?
The setup mentioned above,I found in a post from a few year's back, the member said it was turk's so I would assume it would be kick a**.

If it was from Turk, for that sled or a similar enough sled it should work VERY well!
Thank's for the optomism sleddineinar,i'm also in mpls.sleddineinar said:If it was from Turk, for that sled or a similar enough sled it should work VERY well!
Maybe i'll give this a shot I just hope my gearing change wont have any negative impact.
If ther is anyone out there that has found good lake and trail clutch setup's for 600 twin's and would like to share that would be great.

If anything, the lower gear will just make it a little bit quicker. But it's clutching, you don't know until you try it.

Not sure on the clutching, when I did mine I just rebuilt as stock. I did do the head gasket mod, leaned out the needle a 1/2 notch and changed to carbon fiber reeds. I did this about 9 or so years ago and it really woke up the sled. Just have to run 91 octain or higher. Still have the sled, daughter rides it and no problems at all. Big bonus was MPG went up to about 10. CCC
clean up the clutch faces with a scotchbrite pad and double check for worn parts. might want to throw a new primary spring in it as it might be getting weak. scuffing up the belt as well would not hurt either.
Thank's for the tip's,i'm thinking if I replace "worn part's" wich I'm sure there are there will be big improvmant's,and I'm thinking if I add the clutch kit mentioned above it should really help with performance.
But please keep the tip's coming !!
