How warm is to warm to ride. 97sx700

Well this season has been interesting. 3 descent snowfalls and temps either -40 or +40. And after the below zero temps we've had for a while now. It's gonna be in the mid 40s forecasted for at least the next 8 days. I hope this isn't the end of the season already cuz it's already been short enough. But is it ok to ride @ 40* as long as you dip off trail and keep the rails cool? I realize those temps will make it run a bit more rich so that doesn't seem to be as much of an issue as overheating. Which I've heard is a problem on these sleds

I rode out west with my MM600 and it was 70 degrees out but you are in deep snow all the time. And the MM 600 had smart carb so it adjusted for the temp change. Trail riding in these conditions are not the greatest when its in the forties but it is doable.

It is 43 F here now and I could of gone riding,but to sore from yesterday's bumps and hard pack...snow will be mushy..damn..but it will cool off before the weekend again..woohoo!!!

I'd ride in 40 all day long. Sled a ltiile sluggish, but ok. The trails tend to be crappy when warm, but get off trail & have fun.

For the past 3 years i have made mid march trips to northwest wisconsin where the high temps have been just over or just under 50 degrees F. When it was that warm, i'd simply remove the filter that snaps onto the top of the airbox and change the needle clip position to accomodate the warmer temps. I never had a problem overheating.
