Friday 7:30am –20 (minus) degrees. We (A friend of mine on a 700 Dragon) left Wausaukee and headed North on trail 7. A little icy so the ice scratchers went out. We went through Florence, Crystal Falls, Amasa and then ended up at my buddies house in Sidnaw Mi. That was 165 miles. We dumped off our saddle bags and headed to “The Cozy’ in Michigamme for lunch. We tooled around trail 8 and went to L’anse, then back to Sidnaw. We ended up with a 304-mile day.
Sat 7:30am 5 degrees. We left Sidnaw on trail 8/15 to trail 102 toward twin lakes to eat breakfast. The trail was fantastic. We ate breakfast and headed to Copper harbor. For the most part trail 3 to Copper was in great shape. We took trail 134(awesome) back south picked up 133 (bad shape) to trail 124(awesome) back to 3. The last 12 miles of 3 was BAAAD so we jumped on 109(not so good) back to trail 8/15. We then headed to L’anse gas up and then took trail 14 (FGT-fresh groomed trail) to Big bay. We ate at Thunder Bay Inn. At that point we had 420 miles and it was about 7:00pm. We headed back to Sidnaw via trail 14 through L’anse. We got back to the cabin about midnight. We ended up with a 520-mile day. WOW.
Sunday 7:30am 30 degrees. We headed back to Wausaukee. We took the alternate trail from Crystal Falls to Florence the trails were a little worn but better than expected. We got back to the cabin at around 12:00. We ended up with 175 miles for the ½ day. We loaded the truck and headed back to Il.
So we did a 1000-mile weekend. I was on my 2002 SRX that just turned 10k miles, motor has never been opened up, Stock 02 jetting, only runs Yamalube and had the BONE STOCK absolutely fantastic Pro Action suspension.
