Have a 98 VMAX 600 that has developed a bog at about 7K. When I open the throttle to about 7K she drops down to 6k. If I hold it steady, about 5-10 seconds later she will climb back up. It is also pretty hesitant at this range if I go full throttle.

Could this just be a matter of the carbs needing a cleaning?

How many miles are on the sled? I wonder if you may have some worn clutch bushings? Perhaps it is hanging up bit during the shift? It sounds like it is happening in the same spot. Perhaps a quick look to make sure they are clean too just to rule out anything sticking during the shift. Like you mentioned it could be some Jetting. Maybe a quick test would be to remove the foam filter on that sits on top of the air box to see if that helps clear it out. If it does, you know you have an jettting issue. But yes, before all of that, i would go through and clean the carbs. Odds are you have some gunk in there, look closely at the pilot jets too. If the carbs look clean, you try the above suggestions. Good Luck!

Close to 14,000. Clutches were maintained about 2,000 miles ago. The whole sled is starting to feel pretty boggy now. I will start with the carbs followed by your other suggestions. Thanks for the help.

Try replacing your jets with new jets of the same size. I was having a similar issue with my srx with 15,000 miles. After checking everything else out, I swapped out the carbs with a spare set from a sled with low miles (a suggestion from a mechanic friend). Even though it was jetted richer, it ran perfect. he has seen this before in a Honda quad. Carbs and jets can actually wear from the fuel going through them.

a hanging up clutch will do the same if you have a pulller pop ur clutch off an pop the primary spring out an see if it moves smoothlyi had an arctic once upon a time that i fought with an the ooter bushing was bad
