yes it is ok just don't rev it up

I agree, don’t rev it too much, what worst though is to rev a sled with the clutch on and no belt, the sheaves will slap together real hard.

How many miles are on the sled total? You mentioned that you just bought the sled about 1,200 miles ago so I assume there was a previous owner, do you have any idea how he maintained the clutches?
The issue may be caused by a worn bushing on you movable sheeve. They are a lubricant impregnated nylon fiber-wound bushing that does need replacing from time to time. If the previous owner did not maintain the clutches properly this bushing may be toast and causing your issues. The other thing I can think of is motor mounts. Are they tight, missing any bolts, broken?

It has a little over 6,000 miles. I am the third owner so I do not know the past on the sled. I tried to shake the motor and it did not want to move. The motor mounts looked strong but I will double check those as well. I guess I am going to invest in a puller and take the clutch apart to see what is going on in there. It engaes at 3,800 RPM and pulls upto 8,400 RPM.

It is interesting you mentioned this. The bushing could be worn as I only see wear on the shaft half way around. The whole shaft should see equal wear all the way around from the bushing, correct?

See post #4.

If I am only seeing wear on one half of the shaft, could it be a worn bushing and/or is the shaft slightly bent?
