Did some pre ride checks this morning on my 97 SX 600 in the garage and noticed the track is spinning at idle. Idle is @ 1700 rpm. Driven clutch is engaged. How do I fix this. Aslo, WOT RPM is only 7900 rpm. Shouldn't it be around 8400 rpm?

broken/weak primary spring? is it completely engaged with weight on the track or just slowly rolling when in the air?

I'd say broken primary spring is a possibililty. Make sure you are running the right belt. If it is too wide it may spin the track at idle. Also check your belt deflection as it will result in the same condition. Now like WNY says, if the rear of the sled is up and the track is turning, that is one thing. If the sled is on the ground and it is lurching forward at idle, then thats another.

Sorry it is with the sled in the air. Just had the primary spring replaced 2 weeks ago. So I am assuming that the track rolling in the air is ok?

if it is just slowly rolling it's fine, shows that your deflection is good and that the driveline isnt binding
