It doesn't stop on this damn thing.
We honed the cylinders, they came out nice. When he measured it with the proper tools, it came out to as low as .0018 clearance in one spot. He opened it up to about .0032-.0038. The cylinders aren't perfectly round but they're good enough. You only have so much nikasil to work with.
Had him check my crank, too. One end was 8 thou out, other was 12. Kinda bad. Also had a couple of iffy if not downright bad bearings on the ends of the crank, so I'm going to order those. Once those are on, we're going to true it up and it should be good. Still, another hundred or two - like I said, it doesn't stop.
Hung around afterward and helped him with one of his projects. He's tuning up his brother's banshee. Made several dyno pulls, and tweaked a few things. He cut a new head for it too, tweaking the shape of the chamber and compression ratio to try to get the best curve. The quad is making right around 60 hp now, but it's a rediculously flat torque curve. Way smoother than the stock configuration.
I'm going to have him clean up the ports on my cylinders while it's apart, and maybe even cut my head a little. I might have him weld up and cut my old head for a little better performance too.
