so i got a moist middle plug, there is also a very slight bog in midrange, i need to flutter the throttle a little at around 3/4 throttle to'clear its throat' so to speak, and then at WOT its still 300-400rpm down at topout rpm. lts also using more fuel (it think, not a huge amount- could be the changed riding style to compensate on the way home though)
lve changed plugs, coils, caps, pulled and cleaned carbs (i thought i may had droped a main jet,no such luck). l recently rebuilt the carbs so it isnt loading with fuel cos of shot orings seals etc. floats-level good, no fuel from vent tubes.
Checked comp good-within 3psi accross the board.
l gave the reeds a quick look with a mirror for any obvious failure..................................and i think that maybe my problem, could a chipped corner of a reed that i cannot see without taking it apart cause these kind of problems?
Can reeds just become weak (1997 sled 5000km).................................what have i missed
Thanks

Did you get the main jets back in the right place I know they stagered jets.
Hey Joe,
Thanks for the imput.
Forgot to say problem has just started on last ride, has been fine for 300kms
tested coils plug caps with voltmeter on top of swaping.
not loosing coolant.

Had a similar problem and did all the same stuff and It ended up being the stator going.
