98 SRX vs 04 f7

Box stock or ISR stock? There's a difference. Box stock they are pretty quick. ISR stock they are rockets, they obsoleted everything.
 
be set up properly before you go looking for one of them stock for stock you should be ok but how meny cat guys run stock the go as far as the can without getting caught

They also have slightly longer tracks and hook a little better for short distance, Chances are since they are so light, he will pull you for the first 600 feet or so.
 
My riding buddy has an 04 F7, and I have a 98 srx700 with a 1" track. Last year he was consistently a little quicker than me. This year I rebuilt my clutches and went with a set-up on turk's page (89a-10, b-w-b, dalton 53-43, green spring at 60, new bushings, belt, and rollers). I have no problem beating him this year, other than the first 100 feet (he hooks up a little better out of the hole). We were at radar runs this weekend (terrible conditions) and I ran 81 miles per hour in 600 feet. His best was 79. A lot of Apex and Nytros were in the high seventies low eighties. In any distance longer than 600 feet I would have beat him by a lot more. I keep my machine fairly clean (power valves every 600 miles, carbs spotless, track tension good, clutches and belt clean and adjusted) all these little maintenance items help. If I really want to become competitive in 600 feet I need to change my stock gearing and pick my track. Going to 23-39 gearing would probably really help to dominate my friend's f-7 since he has very little above 100 mph.
 
Wait til the F bomb breaks. Then they are pretty slow., and they are known for breaking often. Otherwise if they are running they are fast.
 
IIRC, 05 was the first year for diamond drives in F bombs.

Yes, 03's were the fastest, when they ran.

That's the issue with cats (well one of them). See Suzuki does not amke sleds anymore, so because of that, there is a disconnect between the suzuki motors and the cat chassis. I blame nothing on Suzuki because they are not the ones with the name getting tarnished and have proven time and time again in all sorts of motorsports that they can win championships in all sorts of racing.

If a motor is not as potent as cat wants, then cat turns up the dial until they are not safe anymore. Then the next year they dial them down a little to save on embarrassment and warranty claims. That is precisely what happened on the f7's.
 
Yea i had a 03 F7 boy i got lucky with mine no big problems and i would kill my buddys 98 SRX 700 bad bad....

Not sure how much difference there is between an 2000 SRX and 98 SRX but I beat a F7( unsure of year, possibly an 03) without much problem, I have a performance secondary on mine and the F7 had ported heads and some computer chip thing. No studs on either of them so we raced from 30km/h until I let off when I was in front by a couple sled lengths.

Brother just raced an 04 F7 the other day from a 40mph roll w/ my SRX(280lb. rider), were neck and neck off the start and then the SRX just pulled away. Ive read lots of posts about the F7 vs. the SRX and ive come to the conclusion its just what sled is set up better. Seems like if both sleds were equal the F7 would take it on the bottom end, but the SRX would lay waste to it on top end.
 
race 1000' and time after time you should have him (if tuned of course). those F7's run out of air after 600-700', and thats when the SRX starts to shine. good luck

That is 150% right. Suzuki is only building these engines to Cat specs. Blame nothing on Suzuki.
 
With the conditions here who knows if we will get to find out
 
Well the CAT might have been a little sick (not runnning right)

But we ran about 400' twice and we were even
He had no top end...no enough RPMS

I'll take it and run him again after it goes to the vet...lol
 
I own both. The wifes 05 F7 144 track and my 99 SRX both sleds have all the mods but porting and cc increase.........F7 "quicker up" to 1000 ft.....SRX "faster" top end. I found that clutching is everything. Got 2 firsts and 1 second this weekend in 1000 ft radar with the wifes F7 but its funny because the old school triple dusts the F7 across the lake.............
