The lines on the carbs, or the lines on the pump? No fuel should run out of the pump with the sled not running, besides what little bit may have been in between the pump and carbs.

Yeah the lines that come out of the pump..they run gas out as soon as i take them off the carbs..not just alittle fuel like non stop running.. I changed out pumps with another one i had around.. Im just wondering why it started to do that

Im not sure why that would happen as I dont know whats inside of those pumps. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in on the situation. Maybe bad diaphrams or something inside there?98srx700rider said:Yeah the lines that come out of the pump..they run gas out as soon as i take them off the carbs..not just alittle fuel like non stop running.. if that tank is full some time it will do it. or if your vent line is kinked or pluged. happned to me. it was like a super soaker when i took the fuel line off the carb. the tank was pressurized because last time i filled it up was like 4 out and when i was working on the carbs was like 36. the air inside expanded and presurized the tank.

X2 - if the fuel level is above the loop of the fuel line coming out of the tank the head pressure plus suction from the fuel escaping from the disconnected line will start the flow. Or as terret stated a plugged vent line will allow vapor generation from temp changes to pressurize the tank.
If your fuel level is below the fuel line loop (I assume your '98 is similar to my '01) check for a kinked vent line. You could still get syphon flow if the fuel level is below the fuel line loop but it's less likely.

You don't have to crimp them just put a golf tee in each one that will plug it an the fuel won't leak out while you have the carbs removed. I also use this when dissasembling engine and I use different color golf tees of the different lines and where they go. It works pretty slick.

i normally use mini line clamps. also pretty handy but golf tees are now going in the top drawer of the toold box lol
