Completely stock 2000 SRX 700. At WOT, it will hit 8,500 RPMS, then drop to 7,500 after holding it for more than 5 seconds. What would cause that and how do I go about fixing it? PV's just cleaned and adjusted.
Cheak you sec clutch buttons then if not it your wrap may be to low

Excellant advice!!
Ramp shoes thicknesses are within spec. Wrap is set to spec (80 degrees).

How many miles does the sled have on it? If it has all bone stock clutching 8dn20 weights, yellow/white/yellow primary spring, red sec. spring and straight 47 helix, you are either down on power, which goes back to usually powervalve adjustment or worn clutch componets.
6,000 miles. Worn secondary spring?

could be both , 2000 yr sled is already 11 yrs old and that means its sat alot with only 6000 miles in 11yrs. I would double check your settings in the powervalves, etc, belt deflection, belt width. Then replace the springs and see where your at, they are cheap enough they wont hurt anyhting even if it ends up being a adjustment out of whack.
sometimes clutch springs take a set.

This is only a guess, but put on your spare belt and see if the problem changes.
I am using my spare belt as the nylon on the other one shredded all over the sled.

SRX_700 did the problem exist with the old belt? Or just after belt change?
Clean your clutches and check components,,,,,,, If you shredded a belt,,sounds like its slipping a bit with dirty clutch faces,,,,,,, clean underside of belt cover to be able to see any belt residue build up..........
I never noticed it with the older belt, but I ride typically in trails where it is hard to open up for more than 3 seconds. Yesterday, we went on the "super highway" of trials where there were mile long fields where I could open it up. Both clutch sheaves were cleaned with hot, soapy water and steel wool. Same with the belt. The belt guard was also cleaned and there is not belt residue after 120 miles of riding. I am noticing the nylons on both belts are coming out on the movable sheave side. The other side looks good. I am beginning to think the secondary is opening to fast as it relates to the primary. I will start by taking the primary apart to clean and check/replace spring. Shoes look good and the belt was sitting 1 mm above the sheave (deflection then should be okay)?
make sure its a oem belt cause it can change your rpm
It is an OEM 8DN 17641-01 belt.
then check those power valve it really sounds like that ...........
I will check them again as well. Interesting that it can hold 8,500 RPMS for 5 seconds. PV's must be opening up to get those RPMS. When t drops to 7,500, there does sound like their is load on the motor but it could be the servo is closing the PV's after 5 seconds for some reason. I did have the fast 7 blinking lights after 6,500 RPM but then adjusted the servo to have a little more slack when fully counter clockwise.

with a stuck valve, you could still get it to max rpm for a bit, but then the rpm would drop because the gases have nowhere to go.

what helix u using SRX_ 700.I cut my stock helix down in center to lower the belt in 2ndary also..but it don't go that low.I matched it up to what the 51/43 and 50/40 helixs allow belt to drop.
