Suspension problems?

I have an 02 Viper... Skis are aligned as per spec and everything seems ok but it is pretty much impossible to go in a straight line when trail riding. The thing pulls side to side and makes it a chore to handle down those long straights. I have yet to rebuild the front shocks... is it even possible to rebuild the stock front shocks? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

my srx used to do that and i went to dually carbides. goes straight as an arrow now
 
I drove my buddy's SRX the other day to compare and his isn't even close to being as bad as mine... I might try what you said and go to dual carbides.
 
Try shimming the ski's. Remove the ski. Install shim between ski saddle and the back side of rubber pad. Reinstall ski. I used two 1in. square floor protectors that you would put on furniture to protect your woodfloor's. Get the hard plastic ones. Self stick side by side on the back end of rubber pad. Cheaper than dually carbides. Less than 5 bucks and a few miniutes of time. Really helps with darting.
 
well i stuck some shims in there... hopefully we can get some snow tonight so i can at least test it out tomorrow. I'll let you guys know if it made a difference.
 
sometime its the type of the track some are horrible ..feel like your on ball bearing
 
well i think i might have both those problems lol. I just bought the sled this summer so its my first season with it. The front feels like it's pulling everywhere and the back end feels like its sliding all over the place... I have 144 picks and its still all over on hard packed trails.

if u are running the cone style track they are junk ,,,,,,,,,been there done that

What do you mean by cone style? I think it's a Kimpex Ultimate Traxtion if i remember correctly or at least that's what it looks like... it's a new track that the previous owner put on last year. I hope the ski shims will help make it better so I don't have to get a new track.
 
its not a cone type but the style of that track will not help u ..nothing to help the track to hook from side to side
 
Well the shims really helped! Did 250k yesterday and my arms didn't feel like they were going to fall off. The rear still kicks out on me a bit but there isn't much I can do about that. I think it's just the track...
 
definetly set up your suspension right from front to back. shimming helps a little and will make the carbides wear more even and last a little longer instead of wearing out the front nose of them, but going to duallys will make alot bigger diffrence. any of betheviper's posts have links under them to a pretty good explenation on how to set up suspensions. and yes, the shocks are rebuildable. good luck
