I'm looking at buying a handlebar riser for my 2002 v-max 700 and was wondering what is the largest riser i can have without putting cable extensions on?

I think you can only get a 2in. block to work. Anything over that you will have to get extensions. If you ever want to put a bigger riser on it, buy yamaha extensions. Got aftermarket ones that were just junk and made the throttle way stiffer. So i ended up spending the extra money on good yamaha ones.

x2 of junk aftermarket
I got some spi ones for $20. Well you get what you pay for. Ended up ordering ones from the dealer for a 03 mountain viper. Cost me $65 and it was well worth it. ;)!

I run 3 on my sleds exp for the ones 99 and down will only seam to work with a 2

I have a 3" riser on my '02 SX600R. Cables are plenty long, but the cables do put extra pressure on the airbox, which caused the box to come apart from the carb bootss. I put plastic zip ties from the airbox side screws (the one that hold the rubber boots on) to the carbs (clear breather lines).

Sorry Derek, not trying to bash you, but if the cables were plenty long, they wouldnt pop the boots off the air box.
Sometimes re-routing the cables can give you extra freeplay. But be sure to test them by rotating the steering back and forth to be sure they wont get hung up. If they do, they can set off your TORS or worse
