As they came home. This was supposed to be one "runner" and one that was best for parts or could be a runner "with a little work". They're getting some work alright!

Motor is going to stay "stock" but I'll probably put a new top end in it. I need to find out what I can do for clutch springs on these things to get a little more excitement out of it too. Gonna ditch the junk Keihin stock carb for either a Mikuni or a Keihin PJ34 which I'm very acquainted with from ATV racing days.

Did a little more work today on the tunnel/seat/bumper.

Got a lot done today. Overcame a major oversight with the steering conversion (steer left, turns right... oops!) and got the front end pretty much done. Had to make a new lower steering post mount and use the Phazer's post on it. Lots of work to do with a mallet and some body dollies.

Here's the new fightin' stance.

to help stiffen the rails and straighten them pound some 3/8'' stainless solid rod into the roll on the tunnel (works great)

Yup, gotta do that. Nobody in town had 3/8 stainless though.
 
neat stuff, whats the idea for the finished look? my very first sled was an 81 excell 3. great little sled, I had my share of fun on that one!
 
I just figure I'll repaint and re-decal the hood and polish the aluminum for the most part. I want it to have the OEM kind of look.... only with a bunch of suspension.
 
Yeah, you can beat the crap out of them for sure. The belly pans on most of them tell a pretty good story! I thought about just putting a stock one together for my boy, but this one will be so much cooler and lots more stable.
 
You stole my idea! Haha. I was wanting to do that same suspention set up to a 300 or 340 but I just never had the money to do it yet. Now I see its possible to do and want to even more!
