IF THIS IS FOR VMAX 4 YOU POSTED PICTURE OF HERE, WONDER WHY SECONDARY WAS NOT CHANGED. YOU SAID THIS 94 HAS A 800.WHY NOT CHANGE CLUTCHES TOO. 94 SECONDARY IS TERRIBLE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
can i put the secondary clutch off 98 srx on vmax4 96 and up..in the parts list it seem to be the same secondary

don't know why they keep the old secondary ...got any tune clutch set up for those vmx4 800 (trail and lake )

if its the old secondary then its the old jackshaft, the two-piece style. You will have to upgrade the jackshaft to be able to upgrade the secondary.
tnx bob sounds like a nice summer job

BOB, HAVE ME SCRATCHING MY HEAD TO CHECK THIS OUT AGAIN. THE SECONDARY OFF MY 95 800 WOULD NOT GO ON MY 2002 SRX. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Tony:
I ran a Yamaha Team secondary on my 95 800 and only remembered having to lengthen my splines to do so...maybe I had the splines trimmed as well! I had the machine work done on the stock shaft in the late 90s so I very well could have needed to do more then I remember.
You've got me thinking as well now.

I went out and rumaged thru my parts and pulled out my original 95 VMAX4 800 jsecondary clutch, 2002 SRX secondary, and 2002 SRX jackshaft and the 95 VMAX4 secondary does slide on the the SRX jackshaft and the secondary clutches look very similar. I must have only had the spline length issue because of the Team secondary I was using.

vmax4 800 secondarys will fit on a '97 and up jackshaft.......spline diameters aren't different. you can take a srx secondary and put it on a 800 vmax4 jackshaft and use it, only if you lenghen the splines on the jackshaft (800 secondaries have the splines in the hub shifted out farther) and if you machine the 2 sheaves to close together more, so the belt sits at the right position during idle and has the right belt deflection. also, helixs, bushings, plastic buttons, and belt deflection screws are the exact same between the 2, as well as the outside diameters. i've been thru all this before.

forgot to say that the '92-'94 secondarys are junk, and only work on the '92-'94 two piece jackshafts. the '92-'94 jackshafts also have a different diameter and the gears, chain, chaincase housing, and jackshaft bearing and pillow block from the 800 vmax4, won't work on the 750 vmax4 and vice versa.

I think I have to disagree with that statement a little, forgot to say that the '92-'94 secondarys are junk, and only work on the '92-'94 two piece jackshafts. the '92-'94 jackshafts also have a different diameter and the gears, chain, chaincase housing, and jackshaft bearing and pillow block from the 800 vmax4, won't work on the 750 vmax4 and vice versa.
1. 800 gears and chain will work on a 750, gears and chain are a direct swap into any '93 or '94. for the '92 you need the correct spacers.
2. One piece(800) jackshaft can be used on any year as well, secondary must be changed however and if used in conjunction with a 750 chaincase a special bearing must be sourced.
Modsrx, what are your plans with the sled? Trail-rider or racer? As it stands, if you want to change your secondary then you will have to change the jackshaft as well as find a non-standard bearing for the chaincase where the jackshaft slides through. The gearing and chain you have is compatible with the 800(one-piece) jackshaft.

my plan will be trail rider ...i wanna switch that secondary with newer style ..i got like 15 helix for the newer style secondary ..i need to find a jackshaft now ....and that collar bearing that goes with it
When you get the jackshaft, get the splines machined all the way down the shaft right up to the the jackshaft bearing and you'll be good to go.

there are a few sleds being parted on vmax4.com, I would start there. Also, any questions you have can be answered there. the bearing you'll need to find is a 35mmx58mmx15mm. A 14mm wide or a 16mm wide should work also.
