SXV torque limiter on a 2001 MM?

From what I understand, a torque limiter from an SXV fits directly onto an sxr/MM? Do I order the stock or aftermarket one?

I was busting powder yesterday and the engine moved. I'll try to straighten it tomorrow.

Unless mountain sleds are different, a torque limiter from an SRX will fit on an SXViper, because the Vipers didn't come with them from the factory. Might need the aftermarket or fab something up for SXR/Mountain Max.

The Viper didn't come with a torque limiter from the factory, the SRX did. Since the Viper & SRX share the same type of engine, you can install an SRX torque limiter on a Viper. These limiters are available used fairly common, and Yamaha also offers the SRX limiter new in kit form for the Viper, although I seem to recall they were on backorder earlier in the winter, not sure of current status. The aftermarket has also made torque limiters for the SRX & Viper, some are adjustable.

I don't think the above will interchange with the Redhead tripple 600/700 in Vmax, SX, SXR, Mountain Max, etc models. The aftermarket may have made a limiter for these models at some point, but I'm not aware of any. You may have to do some more digging to find out, or fabricate something that will work, if you have one of these models.
 
An SXR is supposed to have a non adjustable torque arm stock? I cannot find it on the microfishe. Help?
 
Why is the motor moving FORWARDS and not backwards when it moves? Having a stopper behind it won't help much if it keeps doing that..
 
Landing from jumps or busting drifts and the like? Broken motor mount(s), the metal part or rubber part or both? check & double check 'em. Any missing? compare with fiche for your model.
 
Now I have 2 Hauck (harder) motor mounts (rubber bit) and brand new yamaha motor mounts, where you align the engine. Still it keeps doing it. I have northern lites xentrix too, and it still does it. Why?
All I have done to the sled that might be of any relevance is a HC kit and a hauck roller.
The sled performs awesome for an MM but the motor keeps on moving.
 
take a look closely at the main frame. the part the shocks and motor mounts attach to and where it connects to the tunnel. rare under normal circumstances, but if you got this sled used and are unfamiliar with the history, the delta box portion is likely fatigued or cracked/broken, or you need to address the rivetry. you have steel into aluminum connections and something may be loose, broken, or wrong.

Both #2's from your first link attach to the main cast aluminum bulkhead #2 in your second link.
The main cast aluminum bulkhead is in front of the engine, and is attached to the rest of the #17 "Frame Connection Kit" (this is the big sheet metal aluminum cradle/frame that is underneath and on either side of the engine and airbox areas). If the cast aluminum bulkhead is broke/cracked or has loosened from the sheet metal cradle/frame, I can see the motor moving around like you mention, check all the rivet connections closely like snowdad4 noted.
 
Ahh, that metal sheet. But that metal sheet was inspected when the rear mounts were changed. Sure, can take a look at it. I wonder if I can glue a adjustable motor stopper onto the square where the stopper usually touches the motor. Will that hold up?
 
I would have a hard time trusting glue to hold a bracket in place especially under the force of extension that you seem to be experiencing. Let alone the fact that the glue would have to hold up from very cold below freezing temps to nicely warmed up/hot engine running temps, and back and forth.

Not many people seem to be having the issues that you mention with these sleds, seems like something is loose, broken, or missing. You're saying that you set the motor in proper clutch alignment & center-to-center, and then you go for a ride and come back with the motor permanently out of alignment and center-to-center as you had previously set it? How far out? In any event, if this is the case, then back to previous sentence, something is loose, broken, or missing.
 
It gets further out for every ride. I just can't imagine what could be broken? The sled has rolled over once, ok, but other than that, it is mainly used for touring. Came with a hitch hook. I always have to pull the motor towards the left hand side (clutch side). I will have to try to put on the stock secondary again and see what happens, I have a hauck roller from warrior in there now.. The frame looks fine to me.
