well I am all ready for it,got my flood wall up and just watching the news for now.Our flood crest is due around the end of April approx.I will be taking pics and videos off my boat when time is right.A lot of people have been hit north of the city due to ice jambs raising levels quickly.Other areas West of here are now in a State of emergency...its coming..seems all rivers and waterways may crest at the same time..NOT GOOD NEWS.......weather turned cold today,only 0C for a high today and some snow fluuries.The weekend the same and more snow...what the hell..this is late April.You never know about mother nature.I am lucky it was around 16 to 17 C when I put my wall up.Others will suffer a bit sandbagging this weekend in the freezing temps..not good at all.But you have to make hay when the Sun shines.I killed myself doing it,but now feel good about it.Got my pumps all ready,my generator and stock of gas also..along with a small boat I bought.
 
I can see that even areas that have flooded in the past..have seen different outcomes this year.The waters eithers come faster or find a different route.You can never predict dead on and this is what is happening this year.People state that they have never seen waters in their areas like they have seen this year.Can't take it for granted as some homeowners north of the city close to the river found out.Ice jambing cause major water levels in a short time,but some homeowners didn't even fill 1 sandbag around their house..stupid idiots...

thats wild.....living in NH my whole life i have never had to worry about spring time flooding. at most the lowest point in the yard go soggy :)
 
the Red River systemis a huge system of water.It all flows North into Lake Winnipeg which eventually spills into the Ocean.Lake Winnipeg I heard is one of the 3 largest Lake systems in the world..so that is something to think about.If you don't live next to a big River system and not in a low laying area..you probably won't ever see a flood..unless you get like 8 to 10 inchesd of rain at 1 time..that would create surface flooding quick.
 
Well good luck with it. I was very impressed with the design of your flood wall. Would love to see more pics. Is that a common thing or is yours unique?
 
I saw a wall on the news just like blue had.They do use a design like that to divert water when replacing a bridge but also use a rubber roofing material overlapping it. I think he's good to go but like he said be ready for anything.Water has more force than even intelligent people can comprehend.
 
thanks guys.It is friggin cold here now and for the next week also.We will be getting some snow also.I see there is a weather warning for the Fargo area with up to 8 inches of snow..what is happing here with Spring this year..wow mother nature is sure unpredictable for sure..They have down played the flood level just a tad,but will still be higher then in 2009..which shouldn't even touch mall Flood Wall.But you never know.Our River is flowing nicely and water being diverted thru the Floodway channel around the City.
All we would need now is like a 4 inch rain and it is a whole new ball game...but otherwise I should be fine,others are still fuffering a bit as they are lower then me.
 
blue be honest are you looking to test your wall out alittle???I know if I had that setup and money you invested I would like to check it out just alittle.
 
yes..I would like to test it out..but probably won't have a good chance .I would love to have the water come half way up to see if it will leak.The plywood is all foamed in against the concrete ledge all around and all joints.Have no need for any sand bags then.The forcast now comes close to my wall in elevation..so we will see.
