I am trying to remove my track on my 95 Vmax 600, I have removed the chain case and gears, on the opposite side I have removed the speedo cable and bearing retainer, so now the drive axle floats both ways side to side but not enough to remove the track in either direction, I found referance to a collar with set screws on the speedo side bearing but cannt find any such set screws and the bearing itself just slid off after removing the large nut on the axle, what am I missing here?

You have to push the track away from the drive cogs so you can move the drive axle as far as you can towards the chaincase side. You then tilt the drive axle towards the back and down so you can slide it out. The key is to disengage the cog drive wheels from the track so you can manuver the drive axle and cog wheels out.

x2 if the suspension is still in make sure that is out first.
The set screws are on the inside of the bearing towards the track drive sprockets. They are a torx set screws. I found if you are going to replace that speedo side bearing it is best to give it a good hit with a hammer to break the outer race be sure to cover the bearing with a rag and wear safety glasses if you break the outer race of the bearing all the ball bearings will fall out and the inner race of the bearing will slide out of the bearing mounting bracket. Push the shaft towards the chaincase side and it will fall out. You can then deal with the inner race on the bench you will have more room to work.
