Looking good. Gotta love that extra 30 horse shot those pipes give you!

Gotta love the sound of those Aaen's
Who set the sled up for you?
Thanks guys The sound is awesome!
SRX RIDER: Yeah, i have a hard time believe anyone can beat me My friend rides a RX Warrior. Cant wait to see which is the fastest sled.
Bushman: The guy i bought the sled from had just installed them when i bought it. The main jets are 160. Other than the pipes and jets, the sled is fully stock. But it rides like a dream!

Did the sled come with the pipes wrapped like that?
I put a set of aaen's on mine and wrapped them the same way. The sled made tonnes of power with the pipes wrapped. But i wonder if the wrapping holds too much heat in. I took the header wrap off after the first ride.

knuckles if you wrap the expansion chamber you will be ok & they will rip a lot harder, You would not want to wrap the whole pipe from flange to end for trail riding IMO. Wrapping the chamber helps the pipe heat up, The Aaens are thin metal & will cool off quicker causing inconsistant performance from cooling off after setting. Some of the guys riding out west wrap from the flange to the chamber because of snow getting on the pipes & cracking them..... All I know is I have had a chit load of snow on mine & never had a problem.... But they are coated. Hope this helps, Got any snow over there?
knuckles: The former owner of my sled bought the pipes with the wrap. I´ve heard that the pipes can cool off pretty easy, especially when you are out in deeper snow. Most of the people i talked with about piped Viper, said it´s one of the best thing to spend money on.
Bushman: Why do you think it´s bad to wrap the whole pipes?

Heat! Wrapping the whole pipe is great for sitting out on the lake & running a drag every now & then, But when you run back to back a few times the pipes are over heated with performance dropping off & the wrap holds in moisture causing rust.
There is some great reading in Snowtech on Cold pipe problems that will explain it much better or HAMMER has some great links on everything performance related.
If you have traction you will have no problem with your buddy's Warrior from what we have seen.
Okey. That´s strange. The guys i talked with never mentioned that the pipes could be overheated. The only thing i´ve heard is that if you dont have them wrapped, it´s very easy for them to loose their heat, wich cause the sled to loose power.
I have only ride a couple of miles yet, and so far i have not experienced the problem you mentioned.
Maybe i have to consider to get rid of the wrap.
Thanks for the info!

Go ahead a run what you have, All I see is the chambers wrapped anyway.... you will be ok plus the sled will pull harder & be quicker..... Quicker is best amongst friends anyhow!
Where you would see the performance drop off is say 3-4 back to back long hard runs.

Well i don´t plan to ride that very much long hard runs, so i might not have to worry about the wrap. As soon as we get some more snow to ride on, i´ll see if the sled drops some power on trail riding. Hopefully it won´t.
Do you have any links about the cold pipes?

www.snowtechmagazine.com Go to Article Archive & down to Pipe temp & airbox pumping. It's a good read. Thanks HAMMER

I'll venture to guess you might just have the advantage against that Warrior.
You may want to look into getting a rear heat exchanger on that sled since you are running tripples. Keep her cool!

Bushman: Thanks!
SRX Rider: It´s going to be fun race against the Warrior. I have no idea how the 2 strokes can match the new powerful 4 stroke.
I thought about getting an extra radiator, but from what i have heard it´s not necessary. It seems like there´s more common that you guys in the state use an extra heat exchanger.
As longe as the warning indicator not indicates a high temperature, i will be riding with just one radiator.

I rode for 2500 miles w/out the rear heat exchanger & only had the light come on once while trying to get through town. If you ride in snow it will not be a problem, But sometimes getting into town for fuel the snow gets a bit thin & you could run into problems. I added it after so many guys had problems 2 years ago & have not looked back. Have fun! Randy
