1990 Phazer II w/e-start

These are fun little sleds...I picked this one up for $200 with a bad top end. Rebuilt motor, long traveled the front end, and added 38mm flatslides, just drilled and tapped and conected cable acrrier from stock carbs on to the flatslides and you can use the stock oil injection cable...u get the idea from the photo.

I dont know if it's just me but I Woudnt have paid for those brackets let alone put them on my sled to ride, those welds look really bad and don't even look like they are on the pipe/gusset and I would have at least made it so the threads were gone, I wish I had pics of my drop brackets I made, could just be I have an eye for protection in my welds/work... Good luck n hope they hold up looks good I have almost the same sled!!

The welding was free... a friend of mine, his welds aren't pretty, but they seem to always be strong enough. It's not the first time I've had him weld something for me.

Well as long as it's strong and holds and you have faith in them, I guess it is just me cause well I'm going to school to be a welder for a living... Don't mean to affend anyone but hope it works out for you!
 
******************************************************* The front Struts from the 1994-96 Vmax 5-600cc sleds will give you 2" more travel ! You need the longer shock covers, springs and aluminum knuckles along with the struts. You can find them fairly reasonable on E-bay, any parts forum or salvage yards ! I bought a set of brand new(rare) Genuine Yamaha GYT Kit struts off of E-bay that were an upgrade for the Vmax 5-600 sleds with adjustable dampening, rebound and slightly longer travel for $75.00 ! Yamaha part # SMA-8CA91-10-00
 
Rear bumper & test fit the x10 skid

I got the rear bumper figured out, I used some 5/8 solid rod to extend it, I'll pick up some tubing to match the stock bumper before I bring to the welder. BTW, for this I'll use a professional welder. I was thinking of using handlebar wrap to wrap the bumper when it's done. I also test fitted the skid w/o the track, the picture is to show that front hole only had to be moved about 1.5" back and 1/2" up from the stock location. I'm hoping to have everything together before the weekend, even if there's not enough snow to ride yet...

Ready to Rumble...

Well here are some photos. It's almost completed. I've noticed that the handwarmers are not heating up. So I had the handlebar cover off and was checking the wiring. I switched handlebars and used the old grips from my 700, I know they worked on the 700. I also need to align the skis yet. I've noticed that the left shock (Right in the picture) doesn't come all the way back up, so it sits a bit crooked. If we had any snow, I'd take it for a short ride. I'm really happy with the way it looks so far.

very nice!when i redid the wiring for the handwarmers on my ex,i used a cordless drill battery to test,they heat up quick then!they work when im riding it but not much at idle especially compared to the sx sleds,did you put on vmax shocks?if not i got some struts and misc parts you can have if ya want em
