hey i just bought my first sled. its a 2001 sxr 600 with 2000 miles on it. the track looks like it might need to be replaced. i think the stock track had a lug height of .92 can i go any higher than that? i have about a half inch left. i want to either get a taller lug height or add studs but i have no idea what size i can do without modifying anything. ive called a couple dealers and ive gotten all diff answers so im hoping someone here actually knows what there talking about. i dont wanna mess anything up. any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Do a search and you'll find plenty of opinions on this. But here's what I did when I had studs... I used a 1" predator track and 1.25" studs (I think). I'm sure about the 1" track... I don't remember the exact length of the studs, but I do know that used what ever Woody's website said to use. They have table on the their website that will tell you what size to order for what size track you have.

I also used the 1 inch HACKSAW track. It made a big difference in the way it hooks up. The sled seems to be "planted" in the snow better. (we ride soft PA. groomed trails). Try it first without studds if you can, I dont use them, so i dont know what height will work. I would'nt go any taller than a 1.25.

PS. if you use hack saw track there is a small paddle that will need to be clipped off. It is on every 3rd window or so, right on the track clip on both sides of the track. That paddle hits a bolt head or something up at the front of the tunnel (working from memory) if you put your hand up there you will see what i mean. I clipped it off with a cheep pair of wire clipprs i had , ones that clip from the front , not to the side , you know what i mean ???
