Does anybody have intelligence on how a Hauck 2001 SRX Race CDI will respond to being run without the TPS hooked up. Going to run it on the dyno but i wanted to make sure i wasnt battling any gremlins by doing this. Does it need a resistor hooked up? should i install it on the throttle?

Nevermind that.....pay no attention to me. I was thinking of the tors. My excuse is that it's the summer. :) You won't have an issue with the TPS.

Can you plug the TPS in?
 
Thank you for all the info. Even though the TPS will not affect full throttle timing, it appears that it does affect timing everywhere else so it only makes sense to run a 4 cable throttle and mount the TPS on a bracket and hook it up in order to take advantage of the midrange power the timing advance provides. How do you think I should mount it to keep the same rotation aspect?
 
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it in a race application. You are either right before engagement, or at WOT. The timing differences will not affect you. If it's a bit lazy down low, increase your engagement slightly. I have been running Mach Z carbs on my SRX's for years, and nothing is noticeable with or without the TPS.

X2 on that! I to was worried about running 38's w/o tps.
But its even snapier now compered to the 33's all the way from engagem.
and up. Runs real good even on the trails =)

Take a oil injection pump with cable and use it as template to mount the TPS to the injection lever arm. After you get a base line on the dyno, I'd make a run with TPS locked WOT and also move it around and see what it does.
 
I have 38's on my 600 pro stocker, we run no TPS. As Ryan was saying I dont think its worth the effort! We engage our 600 near 7000rpm's , motor runs ar 9800 The timing between those two points is the only thing to worry about and trust me its not at 7000 for very long!!
 
Thank you all very much for the info. I decided to run the TPS. I figured if yama took the time to put it there, and drive a 3D timing map with it, it must be worth something in the midrange, albeit for not very long in a drag application. Since the game is all about the first 60' then might as well try it. I ordered the A2 pot and "modified" (LMFAO) one of the old 33 carbs to drive it with a 4 cable throttle. I will get some part throttle dyno info to post as well as some 60' times with and without it in the future.
