Off to Ohio again, soap box derby

Well, again today one of my many daughters has won the Local Soap Box Derby. Last years my second oldest won in her two year old car. This year she moved up to a superstock car and raced against her older sister. They went both right to the end and raced each other second to last. She got third place. My oldest daughter moved on to win, double elimination but she never lost a race, winner of winners, same as her sister the year before. This gives us a place in Akron again this year so off we will go for a 10 day trip to ohio again. I could not be more proud of all of our girls, also had a first year 8year old that started this year.

Below is a link to last years race. If any of you guys have kids in the 8=12 age, this is a great program. There is probly one in your area already to take advantage of. As far as I know, every state and most provinces have a race program.

headed out this saturday. Will be racing the saturday after that. You should check into it for your daughter. Lots of fun. Take her to the new movie, 25hill that came out this weekend.
 
We had a great time. It is amazing how many people donate their time for this event. We stopped on the way home at niagra, amazing power and great to see where Tesla made it all happen. Amazing that a boy a half a world away once said, I am going to harness the power of Niagra. a couple decades later, he did just that and we all now benifit from it. Sorry, I am a Tesla Fan, death to Marconi and General electric(edison).

Frankis race day didn't go so well. She has always been a great racer, always gets herself ready correctly without me reminding her of anything. She did not straighten her stearing off the start which in derby racing means, your going to loose. Turned stearing at the start is like holding the brakes on for a split second. Out there, you race three at a time and two go home, no double elimination. Another kid went out from our club and won 5th. this was only his third race he had ever gone to.

I recomend anyone buying the movie, 25 hill . It was a movie made last year when we were there and was released for video this summer. Very good, a tear jerker. Corbin bernson produced and acted in it as a gift to the derby assosiation to get more kids interested in derby. We were given a private showing by the producer and he did autographs after. A very heart felt speach at the beginning of the movie I wish I had recorded about how he found out about it etc

other than the loss, had a great trip. maybe next year.

Me too - awesome band:) The inventor wasn't a bad guy either, but I'll admit I know less about him than the group.

LOL... TESLA definately thought outside the box. he achieved some amazing things that got swept under the rug due to the politics of the era.. but I digress

Scott, Congrats on getting to the big race two years in a row. I know you and I am sure you enjoyed the time with your girls, that's what matters! Reminds me of the new Trace Adkins song Fishing. Takes his little girl out fishing, she thinks it is about fishing and he say's it about spending time together, doing things together. Enjoy my friend as soon they will be all grown up!
