I was wondering if I need to install the front heat exhanger protectors. I am not running any studs. The sled DID have studs before. The new track is about a 1" lug.

Is it worth having them installed??

Thanks!

Well, its a 50/50 answer. If you ever for any unknown reason ever deside to stud, putting the protectors in later will be a pain in the arse. If you got them and are just running a 1" lug track i would put them is just for the hell of it. But its up to you. they wont hurt you sled either way if you dont stud. Just easy to do now.

Ditto! There are not going to interfere with a 1" track and it's easier to put them in with the track out, so put them in now and if you change your mind and stud it, the protectors will be ready to do their thing without any extra work.

What kind of clearance should I have between the track and guards? Its looking like I have about 1/8th inch or so...?? Too close??

Agreed ^^^

What stud length would be considered safe after cliping the track? If the track balloons, do you have to be concerned about hitting the front HEX? Thanks!

Thats a good questions. Although I wouldnt think it would baloon too much when traveling around the drive sprockets.

Maybe someone would know for sure...??

If it's the same as an SRX (which I believe it is), 1.175" is about the tallest you can go before contact with the REAR HX. The cantact can be nearly eliminated by running the track tension to spec rather than looser as most do.

1.075" will not contact anything, and are better than nothing, but won't give you as much penatration. The measurements are based on Woody's Gold diggers.

I have 1.175" on my 1" agressor (clipped) with no front HX contact.
