What Primary clutch is compatable with/for a 95 vmax4 800, Bought sled tonight got it cheep because the clutch was exploded. Not to much good left in it. Pretty much distroyed itself.

you can use any yamaha clutch from 95 and up you can use older one but the new ones has up-date sliders in them.

Dont vmax4s use a wider belt. Im new to the vmax4's but am very fimiliar with my srx clutch, will one from my srx work? Alot of the parts look to be the same besides the weights.

Any body built up a clutch from parts. The inner sheve is still in tack but everything else is toast?

ONE THING WATCH THOUGH ON THE VMAX 4 WHERE THE PTO GEAR DRIVE IS THERE ARE SOME LIKE SLOTS, MAKE SURE BACK OF THE SRX CLUTCH CLEARS THEM, YOU CAN GRIND THOSE BACK SOME IF THEY DO. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Right you were Tony...would it be easier to grind off the air fins on the pto magnito housing or get the clutch machined to accomadate the air fins?

my .02 cents, I would get a vmax-4 clutch, but I think grinding the magneto housing is a better idea then effing with the clutch

Good stuff, cant beat the deal i got on the clutch so i guess i will do a little grinding. Thanks for the advice guys. il keep ya posted. Im gonna try one of your set-ups tony to let that old iron scream. Where my sled is a long track do you think the current gears would be good for 1000 ft? the sled is going to be mainly a play/tuning sled so i can keep the wrenches away from the current srx set-up which works amazing.

I AM STILL RACING A 95 VMAX 4 800 , GREAT SLED, LOVE IT. ANY HELP YA NEED, POST AWAY BUD. NOW THE LONG TRACKS MIGHT OF BEEN GEARED A LITTLE DIFFERENT, 24/37 ALWAYS WORKED NICE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
