First SRX

I have been looking around for a sled to buy and i have found a few SRX 700's for sale even though its summer here. I would really like to get an SRX 700 as my next sled and it will be my first yamaha sled. They seem to be a problem free sled as far as i know but I was wondering if these sleds have any common problems? I probably wont consider buying the sled until it gets closer to winter though. I just want to know a little about this sled from people who have owned or currently owned one.

The srx is a rock solid sled as long as it is maintained properly. Like any sled really. Common issues with these sleds include:

PV pull throughs
TPS out of wack
Wiring harness rub through
Trailing arm damage

Other then that just the regular sled maintenance stuff. The engine is bullet proof, and there are one of the easier sleds to work on. Maintenance on this sleds is a little more then your typical twin but on par with other triples. Thats all that comes to mind.

I would def take the 00 over the 98. Not only is is priced really well but the 98's had crank issues. the 00 had better porting and higher compression.

Thanks for the info, the only thing that worries me about them is the high mileage on the sleds. Still got like 6 months or more till we even get snow here so a few more SRX's will probably pop up then.

you can also ask the seller if the W arm on the suspension is reinforced as they were prone to break

I live in PA as well, and that 2000 seems like a great deal. I have a 98 and if I could sell mine or get the extra $ I would definately buy that!!!

2000 also had dual headlights....much brighter.

Where are you from in PA?

i have an 02 srx i bought back in 2004. the thing is bullet proof, runs like the day i bought it, and hasnt had any issues. the thing about the SRX is it requires more wrench time to maintain then say a viper. but like anything, you put your time into it, and it will last forever.

i had a buddy who was riding a polaris 900 and he refused to switch with me cause my sled was "too fast for him" LOL and im all stock!!! gotta love it!!

hyfax wear in the front. The larger 5.35 inch idler wheels are a must in my opinion

Im in the Harrisburg area not always the best for getting snow though in the future im thinking about taking trips to ride up in NY or Canada.

Even though the 2000 has 7000 miles on it and the motor was rebuilt at 5000ish miles it still should run good? The high mileage just worries me.

My 98 has over 7k on it and it runs 100%. I live in the Harrisburg area as well. Every now and then we get a little "road ridin'" in around here. But most of my ride time is in Potter County and the Laurel Highlands (Somerset).
