SRX Ring question

i bought new rings and head gaskets for my sled i am having trouble putting them on one way there are very loose and will not clamp down will the hose clamp the other way they are tight and seem to fit well but i dont want them to be upside down am i just not tightening them enough when they are loose or is it supposed to be a tight fit even before you press them on
 
the rings only go on 1 way, if you look there is a small "T" on the ring, this faces the top of the engine on both the first and second ring. You then align the gap to the pin in the piston and it will slide right up into the bottom of the cylinder, because the bottom of cylinder is tapered so you dont need to compress them with anything other then 2 fingers.
 
i was told to take a hose clamp and compress them down on the cylinders but i just sanp them on there leave them loose and then slide the jugs over top willthe jug fit if i do it this way
 
the rings only will go on 1 way,usually there are markings or a letter stamped on top side of rings.I had same issue..put ring on 1 way and it wouldn't compress ..flip them the other way and they will compress.There is a slight bevel in the rings i am assuming and that is what is causing the issue for you..If you would go to some of the threads on SRX rebuilds..I have one and all these things are mentioned on there.
 
All you need to do is compress the rings with one hand and slide the jug over with the other.
 
yea there is a notch on the piston i lined the the gap on the ringto that notch on the piston but i cannot seem to get the jugs to go overtop of the pistons the rings are sticking out to for even when i try to compress with my fingers do the pistons need to be taken off to do this or can they be in the sled
 
don't take your pistons off..just get the rings right side up into the grooves..align ends with pin..compress with fingers as you slide the jugs down.Make sure your coat the rings and cyl. with 2 stroke oil..makes it easier to slide the jug down..works for me first time.
 
Then you have carbon build up in the ring grooves. take one of your old rings and snap it in half, scrape out the carbon from the grooves carefully. I would place rags or whatever over the bottomend so all that crud doesnt fall into the engines bottomend.
