99 Vmax SX Line Routing Questions...

Is there two vent lines on this sled?? I have two lines that appear to be vent lines...??

One is connected to the left side of the frame by the foot hold.

The other runs up under the handle bar pad...

Whats the deal with these two lines??

Also there is an elbow on the front of the engine by the water pump AND an elbow on the top of the head. IS there supposed to be a line ran between these two elbows..??

The one by your left foot well is your gas vent for sure. The handle bar one i guess i never put mutch thought into. I think its for the oil. Im going to have to look that up for sure. Someone chime in please!
 
Post pics of the ones on the motor, I think I know what your talking about there but I'm not sure.
 
super1 nailed it on the vent lines, i think. i want to say the oil tank went on an obscure routing ultimately ending up under the bar pas and the fuel tank ran a black colored line and utilised plastic fittings for the vent exit near the footwell.

as for the elbow on the pump and head, thats for the carb heat. should flow from the pump to the carbs, out the clutch side of the carbs to the shutoff valve then down to the head. thats from memory so dont hold me to it.

Yes this sounds right, and the one down by your left foot hold is gas tank vent line.

thanks guys for the the info on the vent lines...got them hooked up tonight.

Whats the deal with carb heater lines? Im not familiar with these...I attached a couple of pics of the 90deg fittings.

There will be spots on your carbs (1 on each end) that these lines will hook to like stated up. It runs the antifreeze through the carbs to keep them from "icing" up. This usually happens due to the cold fuel and warm under hood temps as well as snow dust getting on the carbs. Isopropyl helps this, used to have to tape up all the hood vents on our 97s on the powdery days to keep the icing from happening since they didn't have heated carbs.
 
look for a shut off valve mounted to the airbox.

the fitting on the pump housing should enter the carbs on the chaincase side. the fitting on the head would go to this shut off valve and the other side of the valve connects back to the carb rack on the clutch side.

hoses are about 1/4" id black rubber suited for coolant.
 
No shut off valve on my air box. I think the carbs were by-passed. I believe there was a line between the two fittings with an inline on/off valve.

I got it running today. Seems to start pretty easy and everything apprears to be working correctly.

I do have a question if I have the last couple of wires hooked up right...specifically the the wire coming off the coils AND the carburetor switch.

AND where does the hood wire spring attach?? (picture attached)

HEY i was looking to do the white screens in the hood/cawling. did you replace the rivets with small nuts and bolts or re-rivet it. please respond.

i used rivets when i did mine on the srx. some are easier to get at than others, as are the removal of the existing rivets.

nuts/bolts and washers would work. stainless would be your best choice.

Yes I have the hood cable hooked on the manifold. Just wondering where the spings attaches. It could attach to manifold as well.

I used aluminum rivets on all the screens. If you can find "peel" rivets those would be best. I had aluminum..so thats what I used.

look at the hood hinges where they attach to the crossbar of the bumper support. left hinge should have a hole for the spring to attach. other end of the spring should be in the loop on the cable.
