SRX on asphalt times?

Just wondering what a well tuned (clutched/jetted) 2000-2002 SRX, stock motor/pipes etc, should run for ET and speed on asphalt in the 1/8 and 1/4 mile. Any info is appriciated. Thanks.

Yep, that seems about right. Scott, remember, setup is key here, especially in the suspension, every split second counts in ET!

We (and I say we because my wife drives the sled, I'm the "crew chief", and my 5 and 7-year old boys are the "crew") have run twice at Oxford Dragway (1/8-mile) and once at New England Dragway (1/4-mile) in Epping NH.

Thanks for the link to that other thread. That is exactly the info I've been searching for. Never came across that one though.

Haven't done any "tuning" yet. Just getting the sled to work right first and letting my wife get used to the sled. She had only been on a dragstrip once 15 years ago in my street.strip 12-seciond car. She's having an absolute blast with the sled. We're just doing bracket racing.
 
Tony, what should my target be for 60' times?

So far we've run a bunch of 1.5's with a best of 1.52. 1/4-mile best ET 10.8, 1/8-mile best 6.65. So far sled is in "1/4-mile" trim. At New England Dragway, clutching was 100% stock. At Oxford, I changed to a 53-47 helix and green spring. Have not run this at NED yet, but plan to this coming Sat at the big NSA sled shootout.
 
My buddies bone stock 2001 srx with the exception of 1 gear down (22-38) and removed the airbox and left jetting the stock and put a 10 5/8 track on the stock skid.The sled wasn't lowered and was wheeling bad it ran a 10.69-10.70@117mph every single pass.He only took it to the track twice.Then sold the sled.It was running out of gear at the end of the track and was over reving to 9100.

get the rear suspension working better so it lays as flat as you can all the way back, if you simply make a pass with a 1.4 60ft youll already be running 10.60's. then you can start to tune the clutching and youll be going quite a bit quicker with that as well.
Theres a good amount to gain from clutching but the number 1 gain/time cutting item on the tar is setting up the suspension to get good low 60ft times in my personal opinion with a stock type sled/engine. If you search some of the older post, I have typed out basic suspension set ups that maybe you could try and see how well you do. I love the asphalt, hope to be out sometime soon with my new sled!
 
I just found out that they have like 34 asphalt drags here in Manitoba I didn't know maybe I'll have to give her a try found a track for 380 brand new still in box just have to find the leathers they require!

mrviper700, I believe the suspension is as "flat" as it can go. It was originally set-up by Mark Giammattei 11 years ago for asphalt (sled sat in a trailer for the last 10 years). I think the rear shock is short or has been "short-shocked". Front limiters are pulled up. I have about 1" total travel. Rails are flat with pavement at rest. Sled only lifts enough to pull front wheels of skis of ground (see picture below) for about (I'm guessing) 50-70 ft. We did have some handling issues the first time out at New England Dragway (1/4 mile), kept pulling right and my wife would let off slightly to get straight. Only had 1 full throttle pass then. Since then I added 5mm spacers to top of transfer rods (had none before) and set the skis to point straight (shame on me for not checking before). Now sled goes dead straight with no more "bouncing" in the 60 ft.

pro116, can you explain more why you feel that set up is hurting 60ft times? When I look at the pictures I see, at launch, that I'm getting maximum weight transfer to the track with no extra nose/ski lift. Is the nose lifting too much? If so, isn't that more a indicator of rear suspension set-up, as if the front torque arm was opening too much? Not trying to be argumentative, just want to learn. I don't see how strapping the front (ski) suspension is going to change how much the nose lifts. I don't think I'm pulling very much track off the ground so I think I getting maximum traction. To me, coming from a lifetime of drag racing, a car/sled that isn't transferring isn't getting full traction. I understand there is a limit and that bigger "wheelies" are not good.

Any thoughts welcome. Thanks guys.
