Well once everything was torn apart I found a few surprises....
-a cracked piston skirt (so now I need two pistons)
-cracked sheave on the primary
-7 pull troughs on the track
-bent spindles
-bent trailering arm
-bent radius rods
- just about every bushing in the suspension was worn out
-bad bearings in most idler wheels
-cracked W arm
-worn out skis
-broken carbides (I was told they were new last year
)
SO now my simple fix just got a little more involved. $$$$
I was able to get everything replaced or fixed. With the help from fellow site members I was able to get some good deals on the needed parts to get this 99' back on the trails.
I bought this for my wife to ride this winter. So I was glad to see the hand warmers work great....they get super hot!!
Here are a few pics of the sled coming back together. I even got all the shocks rebuilt! Im hoping it has a decent ride.
I followed all the tips for tightening up the front end and aligning the skis/track.

Here are pictures of the final project. I am finished until I can do some tuning when the snow starts to fall.....
Moral of this story. Dont buy a sled at night. haha
All in all I am happy with the sled and the way it turned out. It probably would have made more sense to part this one out.... But where is the fun in that!!

If you aren't running pipes, I wouldn't worry about a temp guage, if the water temp light comes on just toss snow on the running boards and probably the hyfax. Usually low snow conditions make the hyfax start to melt, it gets sticky, and the sled has to work harder.
And yup, the handwarmers rock on those Yamaha sleds, usually they have to be turned down unlike most other brands. Great job on the sled it turned out nice!! Hope your wife likes it!!

Man that turned out really nice. I really like how those trailing arms turned out. I love the white!!

Wow. Looks great. I remember seeing the pile o parts that used to resemble a sled. sweet. Dont ride it. You'll end up making your wife ride your polaris and you'll be on the Yammie all the time. 
Appears that we have had a very similar summer...mind if i ask what you paid for it?
Nice work! Yeah once you look into a sled further there are always more problems to resolve!

Im not sure If I would ever give up my PERC reverse for the Yamaha! haha
Picked it up for $500....but put a few bucks into it as you can see.
Should be a solid trail sled.
