Viper gearing with 8 tooth drivers

I baught a viper last year. They put 8 tooth drivers in it. They didnt gear it down. It should be geared down right? Not sure im learning as I go any body out there have any idea. If so any body have a 22 top gear for sale...
 
The 8 tooth drivers would gear it down. Are you looking to gear it back up? If you look in the tech pages there are gearing charts for both 8 & 9 tooth drivers. This should give you an idea where you're trying to get to.
 
It has the 136 inch track I put on but it seems like it doesnt have the power it should. Maybei should look into the clutch. I thought that it might be the stock gearing.
 
figure a 1.13% change. take your gear ratio figured with 9t and multiply by 1.13. if you added a 136 and kept stock gearing with the addition of 8t drivers, you should zip, almost overrev.

if you lost power by adding the 136 and changing drivers to 8t, your problem is somewhere else. if you added the 136 and kept the 9t stock drivers, you need to regear.

for example: 20/40 gearing = a 2:1 ratio with the 9's. multiply that 2 by 1.13 and you would see a ratio change to 2.26:1 with the 8t.

if you added the track and did not regear, you need to so you can bring the zip back.

So if i added a 136 to my 121 stock viper and changed nothing else I should re gear it?
 
JDViper- probably. figuring that your sled is slightly overgeared from the factory, your clutches and feel of the sleds performance will tell you.

if the sled feels doggy from a dead stop or your not seeing a full shift out on the clutches, consider a gear change. especially if top speed is not a concern. you already may have lost a few mph with the addition of the longer track.
 
The vipers are great with gearing down a tooth but you have 8t drivers with the stock gearing on that 136.That is a pefect set up.Thats what i ran on my buddies 136 viper.
 
Not looking to hijack, but I was asked to stretch my buddy's 02 Viper to 144. It is stock. What would you guys suggest for gearing??
