Reed Notch

idk mrfreeze. you would have to see if the port is blocked like it is in the 97and up motors. made my 500 snappy especially after i clutched it.

i just looked it up and the jugs are the same but its the reeds that im wondering about..do i have to notch both the middle one so there not crooked because like i sayed earlier there are 4 flaps not 3 was how many were there on your sled????

i also did head gasket mod not sure if i did it right i removed the 4 thin ones and left the thick middle one a little worried just had cylinders recoated so any help hold be cool thanks i also have a set of reichards pipes and if you have info on them it would be nice ive got it clutched and jetted i think but still have a bog but im going to bump up my pilot and try the reed stop notch if i can????

mrfreeze

Do a search on this site for headgasket modfor info. Your gonna find you should have used one of the outter layers and not the middle one . Hate to see something go wrong with your motor. good luck Soc

i notched the stopes i was able to see the size of the notch neede and i went with two thin gaskets due to having twin pipes going for a ride soon hopefully it works if you think i might not have done it let me know and ill let you know if it worked

you just need to notch the upper reed stopper. not the reed itself. this is what unblocks the port. mine only had 3 petals so idk if this will do anything for you.

it mad a massive change rpm's were at 8000 before mods pipes required 8250 i have to let off the throttle now it revs at 9100 i have a set 8ay-oo wieghts with 2 shims and gr p gr springi ordered aaen clutch and carb manuals maybe ill be able to get closer to my target rpms then??

so it was blockin the port as well on yours. sounds like you need more tip weight in the clutch now to bring down the rpms.

ya but im going to have to go with a heavier whaights cuz the ones i got on have 4.5 g on them do you know if doind the head gasket mod brings up the egt

i dont know. my 500 i was told not to do it cause yamaha already had it set up tight. do a search and ask the guys with the 600 xtc's who have done it.

Guy's. My opinion is this makes difference for SRX as well. Will post some pictures...
