just bought a hauck piped viper. (well technically not yet, I'll pay when I pick it up but we've agreed on a site unseen price) it's got a burnt piston. but sled is real clean, with a new track and 144 new pics. it has the rear exchanger but since he bought the sled set up as it is he's not sure about any other mods to go with the pipes. been reading piped viper threads for a few hours here now but have a couple ?s to start.
clutching: do some of the weights that work well with the srx's work well on a piped viper? (bu00's for drags, bu10's for speed, heavyhitters, heelclickers etc) also helix angles? do they compare to what you'd use on the srx with a specific weight?

my next ? is venting to the airbox or not. I've read plenty of posts both ways with jetting for both ways, but I'd like some opinions of people who've actually done both.

I'll know more on how the sled is actually set up when I pick it up and dig into it. but these were so preliminary thoughts I have.

jeff, you could have just pm'ed me. :)

for clutching.....the srx setups aren't the same for the viper.

viper has 14.5mm rollers and the srx is 15.6mm

heavy hitters work well. heel clickers can work. 8CA/8AB work.

what pipes you got?

my suggestion.....vent carbs to atmosphere.

thanks josh. not sure which pipes yet. won't be picking up the sled till next week. it belongs to the brother of a guy I work with so all I've seen is pics so far. sled looks really clean and the price is right, but we'll see when I see it in person

i know its off the subject, but you get your transfer rods yet?

Depending on what pipes are on there hauk has their own clutch kits speed sheave and helix for their piped sleds. They have #3 #4 and #5. Even if its an older set of pipes give em a call and they will be able to get you hooked up.

Runnin good at 9100. A tad faster than my SRX. Not this year though, I got some tricks up my sleeve. He grinnin from ear to ear after i got it right for him. Ditched the O/D sheave, Running the 8CA's, seems to work good. I think i'll gear him down a tooth this year, gonna replace the track soon anyway.

8CA's are fun on them. I prefer 9200, but 9100 is ok. What is that viper geared at now? You planning on getting that SRX ported this year?

stock gearing, but i picked up a smaller gear for the top last year, can't remember the tooth count. I was planning on porting, but i been too busy lately and have a long list of other stuff i want to do to the srx , we'll see once i tear into it.

I liked 21/38 for 9000 and 21/39 for 9200.

picked it up today. pretty clean sled overall. it has adjustable t-rods (I think benders)
for clutching it has:
primary-
8dn10 weights, with an all orange spring
secondary-
hauck V helix, with an all green spring
wondering if this might have been a hauck kit?
I'll get some pics of the pipes but right now I'm thinking they're the old cpr's made for hauck
